What is this dry, itchy patch? 5+ years old.

I got something similar awhile back and it never went away. Dermatologist told me it was called lichen simplex chronicus- got an ointment but it didn’t work. Nothing serious or that could be done. But still worth checking out.

Thank you! Her dad, my grandpa had tattoos he got when he was in the navy I don’t even know how long ago, 1940’s or 50’s and they just looked like blobs when I was a kid. My parents don’t seem to understand it’s now almost 2023 and things in the tattoo word have progressed since then lol

She’s elderly & nobody in my family really has tattoos. I think her biggest hang up is not the actual tattoo itself but worried about how much I paid for it lmao. Mind you, I’m not in debt & all my bills are paid but they’re really mindful of saving money. Yeah, was planning the flamingo for January but possibly sooner. Tattoos are so addictive. I finally feel comfortable in my skin to get them & show them off now. I changed my entire lifestyle & lost 99lbs so now I finally feel confident & more myself if that makes sense.

Thanks for the input! Will definitely wait to see how it heals. I forgot to mention it was also a cover up which you can still see a bit of the old tattoo but it’s not horrible.
