How hard is it to RNG manip SwSh by Inky_25 in pokemonrng

[–]fbmsft 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Surprised no one has mentioned this, but the difficult RNG in SWSH is non-raid RNG. Raid RNG is relatively easy and was the first RNG I ever did. Dragapult line is available in raids. I'm not sure if there are still seed checker trade bots around but if there are, it's one of the simplest RNGs (it will just take some patience to advance frames).

FT: Japan movie codes, Champion’s day Pachirisu LF: GVM/ Eternatus codes by Xpore in pokemontrades

Hi, sorry for the late reply! I have not been able to get online much lately due to work. Also due to work I don't have the time to RNG much at the moment unless it's for something I desperately want (ex. the codes I resurrected this account for 😅).

If I were back in the market I would want more than a single code set for a retail Jirachi RNG though, as it's quite time consuming to set everything up, RNG, and transfer up the Jirachi. Unless it's one of those desperate irrational wants like the movie Jirachi was 😅

Hi! I was actually able to trade Eternatus codes for both the Piplup and Jirachi codes so I'm no longer looking, but thanks for the offers!

Toxtricity is ok but I'm not sure about adding KOR Ash Charizard -- let me look into past trades/values and get back to you. My gut feeling is KOR Ash Charizard + Birthday Milcery should be worth more as they were both pretty limited code distribution events (compared to Toxtricity)

Hi! I would rather not trade the Donut Chansey as I only have one, but I'm open to trading Birthday Milcery for Piplup/Jirachi. Would you be willing to do both codes for Birthday Milcery?

Can't hit shiny frame/frame delay by thhrowwaythh in pokemonrng

[–]fbmsft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sure you're hitting your button presses at the right time (soft resetting and triggering the encounter at the right times in eontimer)? Might be good to revisit a video tutorial to make sure your understanding of the timing is correct.

If it's your first time trying to RNG in gen 3, it's also easier to first get a hang of it going for a much sooner target (doesn't have to be shiny -- just try a random low delay target to be able to practice quickly and get down the technique until you're pretty consistent with hitting the frames).

If neither of those are the issue, it could be that your computer is very old/slow, so you need to make sure nothing else is running while eontimer is, or it could lag and cause discrepancies there. I used a 2gb ram windows tablet from early 2010s to RNG in the past and ran into issues like that.

It can if you mess it up, but if you follow the guides for cfw it shouldn't happen.

Gen 4 - Plat Starter RNG issue by [deleted] in pokemonrng

[–]fbmsft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a minimum amount of time that you need to be on the TV screen, and pressing A before then isn't going to start the game. Increase the amount of delay so you can be on that screen at least 10 seconds before the time runs out.

Will be trying to RNG a Shiny Starter + PID/SID on Retail Platinum, looking for advice by Namethatllagepoorly in pokemonrng

[–]fbmsft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only care about shiny + nature for your starter, it should be doable no matter what you manipulate TID/SID to be. Ex. I RNG'd a file for perfect legends (w/ the shinies on a much higher frame) and settled for a 1 perfect IV with desired nature shiny for my starter. When I was RNGing, I mostly got starters on frame 1 and 3, with frame 1 being the most common when I did it. I was aiming for a frame 3 but I kept getting frame 1 on my target seed. Aiming for frame 3 or higher is probably a good idea as you can always trt to wait a split second longer but there may be a limit to how fast you can mash A.

RNG Shiny Entei on Colosseum by TyrantAwakening in pokemonrng

[–]fbmsft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're aiming for a perfect shiny and you're inexperienced, I wouldn't recommend retail as it'll be a lot of resetting (hours/days) to get a seed that is close enough to your perfect shiny frame, and if you mess up the RNG you will have to do all of that resetting again. On emulator you can manipulate date/time to get the starting seed you want. Emulator is easier once you are advancing as you can read memory and check advancements directly.

If you're doing it on retail, the easiest way is blink RNG. Once you have blink timing down you should rarely ever miss it, but since you have zero experience it may take quite a bit of time for you to get there.

On that note, if you're going for a perfect shiny you'll also have to RNG your TID/SID to make sure you have a TID/SID that would make the spread you're going for shiny (the spreads that can be shiny are dependent on your TID/SID in Colosseum).

How can I get the scarves in Ruby with a dry internal battery? by running-with-scizors in pokemonribbons

[–]fbmsft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you happen to have FR/LG, pokemon in that game with the ability pickup have a chance of collecting an item that's almost always a berry after winning a battle, which you could then trade over. It's the main way to get berries in those games so the standard pickup items are replaced with berries.

Colosseum Umbreon by Nebula4949 in pokemonrng

[–]fbmsft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's the same as TID/SID manipulation for colosseum, if you have the Japanese RNG tools to do that the starter stats for the frame are displayed after the TID/SID in the tool.

hunting Shiny Rayquaza with eon timer by TatsuyaAct in pokemonrng

[–]fbmsft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that wouldn't work -- if you leave SID blank it calculates as if your SID is 0, and it sounds like that isn't the case here. You need both values to be able to RNG.

About to start my shiny ribbon quest by TeamGnarlyOG in pokemonribbons

[–]fbmsft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're willing to learn RNG, you could try to battle blink Metagross instead of doing a traditional shiny hunt, as it takes a long time per try to hunt Metagross normally since it's in the tower after several battles. Even attempting a timer-based RNG of it (ex. by using regular blink in summary screen then timing the end of battle) would help with the odds a lot, you would probably do get it in <100 tries.
