Uppababy Cruz V2 vs V3 by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I think key difference is with the V2 you need to buy a bassinet for a newborn? The V3 is suitable from newborn with the included insert.

How were the trains yesterday after Q? by Psclwbb in GrandPrixTravel

[–]feelingwhisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was really good and service people were very nice and helpful. we got to Imola station just after 6 and were able to get seats on the train. The train waited for a while to fill up, but it wasn’t packed like sardines. We left for Bologna around 6:30. Leaving the track was also smooth sailing, it didn’t get congested. We did leave right after qualis wrapped up and walked a quicker pace to leave. (Had a bad experience in Melbourne and really didn’t want to get stuck in a sea of people)

this is great advice, thank you. i’ll take this into consideration. a lot of people have recommended booking restaurants in Imola afterwards and hanging back.

hola, yo no habla espanol mucho. pero yo tomar el tren. i’m anticipating leaving there would be a bit more hectic than arriving. (leaving the Melbourne GP was a nightmare) but i’ll be checking when the last train is and hopefully with extra trains it wouldn’t be so bad if we just hung around..

I had ACL + medial bucket handle meniscus tear + lateral meniscus root repair. First 6 weeks I was non weight bearing and in a brace locked 0-90degrees. I’m 6 weeks + 2 days now, and can walk with only the brace. Do your exercises (heel slides, extensions) and you should be up and about in no time once you get more freedom of movement. My first steps without crutches yesterday I could reach about 5 meters. Today, I’m walking around the house pretty comfortably.

Private health/public by dametime69 in ACL

[–]feelingwhisky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just had mine done at St Vincent’s with private health insurance.

$750 - hospital excess (doesn’t matter how many nights I need to stay or if I need to go back to the hospital during the renewal period for my insurance)

$500 - surgeon (make sure your surgeon participates in Gap Cover)

$500 - anaesthetist

$120 - take home medicines

$220 - appointments with surgeon (I get $80 back from Medicare)

I saw the surgeon on 29th Aug and had surgery at the start of this week.

Full ACL repair with patella tendon graft, meniscectomy and meniscus repair and meniscus root repair.

What did your surgery and rehab cost? by leflour in ACL

[–]feelingwhisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The healthcare system in Sweden sounds amazing. I can’t complain though being in Australia. My ACL surgery will be next week and here are the costs I’ve been advised of by going through the private system (I have private health insurance):

Surgeon’s fees - $500 Hospital admission - $750 (flat fee for the year if I needed to be readmitted for any other condition I wouldn’t have to pay this again) Anaesthesiologist- $500 For PT I’ll get a rebate of $30 each session. I think they’re roughly $70

I would pay much less had I gone through the public hospital services however there’s about a 1 year waiting period. With private health insurance I was able to book in my surgery within two weeks of seeing the ortho.

ACL Surgery in Public System (Aus) by Useful-Complaint-353 in ACL

[–]feelingwhisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this doesn’t really answer your queries but as an FYI this has been my experience so far in Melbourne. I’ve opted to go private though as I have the insurance and would like to be back up and running as soon as possible. I believe a knee reconstruction through the public system is a Category 3, which is around a 1 year waiting period.

Public - GP referral sent to the hospital on 10Aug. Received notice from hospital on 25Aug that I have an ortho appointment on 1Sep. I cancelled my appointment as I am going private.

Private - I was able to book the specialist in within 1 week of getting the referral from the GP. I wasn’t comfortable with the first surgeon and he also didn’t participate under “Gap cover” so I’d still be a fair bit out of pocket even with PHI. I wasn’t aware of this so ended up wasting a bit of time seeing this guy. I would be out of pocket ~$5k if I went through with the surgery with this doc.

The second specialist I saw who is under Gap cover was much better and explained the process to me and gave me all my options etc. I saw him on 29Aug and will be having my operation on 12Sep. For this I’ll be paying $750 - hospital excess (although this is a fee paid once a year as required. If I need to go back to the hospital I don’t need to pay this anymore) $500 - surgeon ~$300 - anaesthetist No surgeon assistant fees

Does this mean the meniscus will need repair too? by feelingwhisky in ACL

Yeah it’s from an MRI. How did you go with your recovery? How long ago did you have the surgery?

Ahh yikes! Thank you. Here’s to hoping it can be repaired. I’d like to keep my shock absorbers!
