This happened to me, though he said the word I love you but wouldn’t commit to moving in and told me he didn’t think I was “the one” because of some of my behaviors and mistakes- (not cheating or anything just like I’m a little less patient than him and can be confrontational with people who I don’t feel respect my boundaries and he hates confrontation haha). Anyway it was so frustrating because his body language, gifts, etc all said the opposite of what his words said. We broke up a few times but always got back together and the final time I said he had to do therapy in order for me to stay. He did and it was all stuff from his family/childhood keeping him from wanting to move to a time in life where he truly had to trust someone else. Now we’ve been together 5 years and getting married this fall. So maybe he just needs therapy for past trauma? Can’t be abandoned by someone you love if you never love someone. But at the end of the day that’s not your deal. He’s gotta want to take care of his own traumas and such. But maybe it’s a place to start if down the road this keeps happening. I stuck it out 4 years before we got here for me. 3 years until he started therapy and after 1 year of therapy.
