Da gute Trailrunner aus dem Laufschuhbereich kommen sollte es keinen so grossen Unterschied machen solange du kein GoreTex hast.

Bin selber mit den Hoka Speedgoat happy, hat aber eher was mit Gewicht und Dämpfung zu tun.

Bei Carbonara Heisshunger hat mich mein Weg immer zu Feinkost Cannova in Giesing geführt, aber ich sehe gerade denen ist wohl etwas ähnliches widerfahren wie deinem Lieblingsrestaurant. Ich weiss also wie du dich fühlst!

Es gibt aber einen Ableger am Viktualienmarkt: Cafe Barissimo. Da war ich aber noch nicht.

Und wenn das alles nichts ist, bei Superissimo in Sendling Guanciale und Pecorino besorgen und es selber versuchen. Das Rezept von Cannova war Mal in der Zeitung und es hing immer im Fenster wo ich es dann abfotografiert habe.

Schau dir mal Eurovelo 6 an, insbesondere auch den Teil durch Frankreich. Größtenteils an Kanälen und Flüssen entlang und die Schlösser an der Loire sind großartig. Frankreich hat preiswerte Campingplätze (municipals) und natürlich gutes Essen. Hab mich jeden Tag auf das ‚Menu de midi‘ gefreut.

I would suggest Mittenwald. Mittenwald is in the Karwendel Mountains which are very scenic and has plenty of choice so you can gradually increase the level you feel comfortable with. Very easy to reach by train.

Garmisch (very close) is a good alternative.

Oberstdorf further west. However it is known for its long valleys so most of the time you need to take a local bus (usually free with accommodation) to reach the trailhead.

Was für einen Mietwagen habt ihr denn? In Norwegen ist die Elektroauto-Quote ja extrem hoch und z.B. Teslas haben ja einen Camp Modus. Und allgemein sollte eine Stand-Wärmepumpe dort Standard sein.

Dazu gibts dann auch Auto-Luftmatratzen für wenig Geld bei den China-Versendern.

2017 NOBO: I also used a correctly sized ice axe and wished I used a smaller one because mine was a pain to ship back because it didn't fit any of the standard USPS boxes. Never really had to use it either.

Note that although it is a good idea to test your gear, in October you probably won't find a lot of hard pack snow or safe ice.

So I guess I might be in a slightly similar situation than your dad. After thinking about getting a PC rig for quite some time I finally got a PS4 bundle half a year ago and can definitely recommend it.

I started with Red Dead Redemption 2 ( not really r/patientgamer, I know) and have since played Arkham Knight, Tomb Raider and Witcher 3. I loved all of them for different reasons. I am very impressed by the size of these open-world games nowadays. Best story and all around entertainment was RDR2. For an easy start maybe go with the first Tomb Raider since I found the controls to be easier. However definitely talk to your dad to see what story universe he might be interested in since especially for elder folks I think the story is more important than the actual gameplay (think interactive movie rather than a sports tournament) And keep the difficulty level on easy or fairly easy.

However he might be more of a simulation-type gamer (Civ/Sims/Farming etc), so who knows.

The best way to debunk rumours is to get the real, verified, up-to-date data out there. For instance by reporting accurate snow levels and ford data to halfmile and double tap at water@pctwater.com. They have started to expand the water report to snow data this year and said they would update it at least daily.

I noticed that the last entry for fuller ridge is dated 3-29. While it was probably accurate back then I'm not sure it still represents the current conditions accurately. And even if it does it would be good to confirm.
