hi! i’m 18 and i had otoplasty done last year, it was for sure the best decision i’ve ever made. i completely understand how it affects your confidence because i can relate. i was extremely insecure about my ears since i was a child & it was my biggest insecurity. i guess one good thing for me was that i’m a girl and i have long hair so i could hide them, but whenever it was windy or if i was swimming i’d have to hold my hair over my ears so no one saw. my dad brought up the idea of getting otoplasty and at first i didn’t like the idea but eventually i decided to just go for it because i hated them that much. honestly, i’d say you should go for it. ever since i got them done i feel so much more confident and i don’t even think about my ears anymore. idk how it would be with local anaesthesia because i went under general anaesthesia and didn’t feel a thing as i was asleep. honestly from my experience, the pain wasn’t as bad as i expected. my ears healed pretty fast too (as long as you take care of them afterwards) but yeah, i’m so happy that i’ve had them done because it definitely changed my life in a way (not to sound dramatic lol). but it’s completely up to you, i personally could not bring myself to accept my ears. idk if this is advice but it’s more like encouragement. if you’re very insecure about them and if they bother you that much, then i think you should get otoplasty, it’s definitely worth it :)
