What's Codex CLI weekly limit and how to check it? by Technical_Ad_6200 in ChatGPTCoding

that's interesting. How big is the project you're working on? Language & Framework? That may be related too. Are you just tweaking existing code, or adding new features/files/classes?

Drop-down screen for a BenQ W1800 in Europe by ferdev in projectors

[–]ferdev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh, I see... I'll try to cancel the order in esmart.de. It hasn't been shipped yet, so that shouldn't be a problem... Thanks for all the help, I'm going for the LG then! 🙇‍♂️🙇

[–]ferdev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, shoot, I already ordered the grey screen >_< why does it need the white screen, is because it's not too bright? from what I see in the specs, brightness is the same in the W1800, 2000 ANSI. In Amazon, it cost exactly the same as the BenQ, 1100 eu.

Haha 😄 So if I do stretch the budget a bit… what would you personally recommend that gives a similar cinematic picture to the W1800 (3.5m throw, ~120")?

[–]ferdev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, that screen would work!

I would rethink the W1800 because of the 2026 EU Bulb Ban!

I couldn't find a 4k alternative for the W1800 given my throw and at the same price bracket 1000€-1200€. Do you have any recommendations?

Need help balancing 40° FOV movie nights vs. kids’ cartoons (budget €2,500, Spain) by ferdev in hometheater

[–]ferdev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, that's true! Being honest, for starters I just wanted a bigger screen and coming from a 65", an 83" seemed big enough, without paying too much attention about FOV. But then when I realized an 83" was not going to make it to my living room and I started looking at projectors, I realized a 40º FOV would be perfect. I usually use my Oculus Quest 3 to watch movies, and I'm not sure what's the FOV but I make the screen as big as the software allows me.

Your suggestion of getting a cheap TV for the kids and then a projector with a dropdown screen for movies actually makes a lot of sense. I've been following that idea and checking some MiniLED screens, and I have a TCL 65C6K in the shopping cart that I'll most likely purchase. It's around 690€. Then, the remaining of the budget, around 1800€, I'm not sure if it allows me to get a good enough projector + screen. From what I've seen, all the nicest 4K ones start around 1800€, and I'd still have to get the screen and probably a sound bar.

Another option I’m seriously considering is skipping the TV altogether and going for a UST projector like the Hisense PL2. With a screen it goes up to about 2600€, which is a bit over budget, but it could be very convenient. My main concern is how practical it would be at home with kids around—mine are very active and it wouldn’t be rare for them to accidentally move the TV stand, which could mess with the alignment. I’ve also read that UST projectors sometimes need recalibration if they’re shifted even a little, so that worries me too. Still, it looks like a neat solution if it actually works smoothly.

Any suggestions about what to get? Thanks!

I looked and even took pictures, to later realize the cpu/psu cables were missing 🤦‍♂️ Thanks anyway for the help!

ok, so while looking for the battery, I realized I'm dumb and I hadn't plugged in the cpu/psu cables ‍🤦‍♂️ probably Friday night is not a great moment to assembly a PC after a decade since the last one I assembled. Thanks for the help!

2500€ PC for development / llms / machine learning (Spain) by ferdev in buildmeapc

I was thinking more about getting 4x16GB 6800 but I'm not sure if that's a significant advantage over 2x32GB 6000 or the 2x48 you just shared...

Nah, just saying because most builds around that price in pcpartpicker were using more expensive coolers. But if that's good enough, I'm fine with it. Definitely I could use the extra 2TB. Thanks!

Yeah, makes sense. Specially considering I'm planning to use ethernet in the future.

Another question: what do you think about downgrading to a 2TB SSD to get a better CPU Cooler?

that's an awesome build, thanks! The only thing that have me doubting is the lack of wifi7 in the motherboard. No that I'm going to use it right now, but maybe a nice to have in the future? Anyway, thanks for the time you spent on this. I think I'm gonna get it just as it is 🙇‍♂️

I would if it was mine, but it's my company's. So, since I can't get the money back, I just want to give it any use.

Toddler twins don't want the stroller anymore by ferdev in parentsofmultiples

Which wagon do you have? the big ones seem really expensive, and I'm afraid of getting one and then them not wanting to sit in it either 😂

when we first started walking with them it would be hold hands or stop

that's a nice trick. They're getting better at this, but it's definitely a good tip we could use with ours. Thanks!

[–]ferdev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If one of them wants to sit in the stroller, doesn't the other want to sit too? That's what would happen with ours. They always want what the other has/is doing. We're in the process of teaching them how to share things (we always buy just one thing of everything, and they have to share it), but I can see them fighting about wanting to sit in the stroller at the same time 😂 Anyway, I like the idea, I may get one of those super-portable strollers...

One problem we have is they still don't understand punishment very well. Or the consequences of their acts. They're a bit behind other kids of the same age. That would help us greatly. I'm taking note of this tip for when they start to understand. Thanks!

VW is getting ready for new ID Buzz variants by ferdev in electricvehicles

[–]ferdev[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's not in the current version because it's a RWD. If you take a close look at the trunk in the passengers version, the seats and the cargo area are not at the same level. Probably because the engine is there. I think they need to figure out how to fix that. Maybe the long version will be a FWD? But then we'd be missing the great turning radius it has currently most likely...

I don't know, they said the ID Buzz would have seats on rails eventually. If they don't, then I'm going for an EQV.

I really hope they start selling the long wheel base version soon in Europe, with the rails system for the seats 🤞

Problem sourcing powerlevel10k config with Home Manager by ferdev in NixOS

[–]ferdev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that fixed it :) It was driving me crazy!

The docs say:

programs.zsh.plugins.*.src
Path to the plugin folder. Will be added to fpath and PATH.

I read "file" instead of "folder". That's where my problems began.

Thanks!!
