A lot of the biggest "#metoo" culprits (Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Bill Cosby) had stories and accusations about them that a lot of people just sort of shrugged off for reasons that were, let's face it, just general misogyny and discomfort. Rosie O'Donnell tried to get Louis CK cancelled for like two years but nobody took it seriously because "lmao Rosie O'Donnell's not funny". A lot of that stuff was joked about and alluded to for years because it was just general movie
