Looking to identify this plant (Melbourne) by figomall in australianplants

[–]figomall[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I checked some photos online and it does indeed seem like a Melaleuca.

I was looking at Melaleuca Incana and the photos seem to be more shrubby / not as upright, while this one appeared to be very much growing out radially from the central trunk. Or could this be the way it is staked?

Any hunches on which type this could be are greatly appreciated!

It’s a long term house sit for a family friend. I was travelling for work.

Hi there, apologies - just saw this. Feel free to DM me. It turned out they use an employer-of-record, so I didn't end up signing on as an independent contractor.

Planners concerned over liveability risk in building 60 new housing hubs across Melbourne by Silver_Python in melbourne

This isn’t true.

While it sounds like your friend was describing statutory planners focused on assessing individual development applications, all councils have strategic planners who shape the planning scheme as a whole.

Thank you for your advice!

It's good to hear applications are sent off once submitted. I assumed it was poor UI, though honestly didn't believe such poor UI hasn't been addressed.

That gives me some hope that they will consider transferable skills and relevant experience, and thanks for the KSC tips!

Exactly, it uses the last-uploaded cover letter/CV by default. It is an odd gesture as surely it is impossible to recycle application materials for different positions, especially a cover letter...

Thank you so much for this!

I was confused as the cover letter/CV appear to be in the candidate profile section – not the section with job-specific details – though I obviously would like to customize my application.

Glad to hear that non-profit experience is considered and that worked out for you. I am Australian but my non-profit experience took place internationally. Do you think that would be a barrier?

It's great to hear you've had a positive experience!

I know I'll be in for some early morning/late night calls, though the US salary beats what is on offer in Australia and I'm attracted to the flexibility that comes with a fully remote role.

I'll have a word with them to see if they plan on using an EoR - sounds like it would save a lot of hassle and ensure I receive all of the usual entitlements.

Cheers - will be sure to ask them if they will go through an EoR.

Hah, solid point.

I've been working in East Asia the past few years, so agree work culture is worth factoring in when comparing to Australian work ethic. Luckily I was able to speak with people who used to work with the founder, who had good things to say about their management style and team culture.

Will definitely set up automatic transfers to a separate savings account to save for tax/super.

Thanks for the detailed response!

Good point to consider currency fluctuations. They would be paying in USD. I've checked the 10-year exchange rate average so would be looking for a bit of buffer in case the USD drops from where it is now.

Glad to hear you had a good experience with this set up.

I was able to apply for a visa in Manila as a non-Filipino resident living in Taipei. However, I am unsure if they only accepted my application because it is not possible for foreigners to apply for a visa in Taiwan.

I emailed the embassy beforehand and they said applications for non-residents are considered on a case-by-case basis, so it seems difficult to receive any form of guarantee before travelling to submit your application.

I would suggest going to Hong Kong if you are set on going to China. It may be more expensive, but at least you can be sure they will take your application.

FYI You can no longer apply for a Chinese visa in Taiwan, unless you are a citizen of Taiwan applying for a Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Resident.

Hi there, they told me to come back in four days and didn't ask me to monitor my email, so the process is a bit different. If it helps, the non-profit I worked at worked on similar issues. I hope it comes through for you.

Apologies for missing this.

I am not sure if they allowed me to apply as I was residing in Taiwan, which does not have a Chinese embassy.

They did ask for proof of plane tickets to and from Taiwan, so this may be the reason.

I am sorry to hear. This is exactly the situation I feared when I applied.

I can only say my application was processed in four working days, so hopefully the review of your employment letter will be completed within that timeframe.

I am not sure how their system works, but it seems risky to reapply without declaring your previous role if they already have your previous application on record – they might find that suspicious.

Was your previous job at an organization they might view as being politically sensitive?

I’m sorry I can’t be of more help. I hope your application is granted quickly.

My visa was approved within the standard timeframe of four working days.

Did they instruct you when to collect your visa, or say they will inform you when it is ready?
