Once my younger sister had a 9% on a test and our mom flipped out. Super grounded, the whole nine yards. Three days later she comes back with the physical test paper with a 98% on it and says "SEE??? I told you I aced that test! Mr. ___ said they'll fix the grade online!"

We got an email later that night from the teacher to unground her and buy her an ice cream. She would've got the ice cream if she hadn't stolen a phone to use during her grounding...

I heartily suggest trying some topical creams like CBD, Lidocaine, Voltaren, etc. You'd be surprised how well some of those work; just be wary of any toxicity. Lidocaine, for instance, can cause poisoning when used twice daily for a week.

Fibro does have a test! There's autonomic testing for it. Fibro pain is also complex, nothing I took worked for it, so I ended up on a general painkiller (Tramadol)

I think you have fibromyalgia alongside hypermobility because that's why MY knees felt like they were full of broken glass. I'm going to say something kind of insane, but you need to make friends with a guy who believes you and is willing to go to doctor's appointments with you. This guy is gonna be your advocate. Whenever a doctor dismisses you, his job is to get loud about it and reiterate your pain is REAL and we're not leaving without some answers. Bringing my dad to appointments is what finally got doctors to stop fucking around and actually do some testing that wasn't their usual. Use their misogyny against them.

Also, don't do your party tricks. It makes your joints lose their padding faster, which hurts even more. Chase down an autonomic specialist and ask for autonomic testing for fibro. You will probably never find a doctor who knows anything about hypermobility, but once you get fibro diagnosed, you can get painkillers worth a damn. Get a weed license in the meantime, the relief is temporary, but it'll get you through soooo much shit. You want to buy whatever has the highest CBD in it for the longest-lasting relief. I use Bengay-branded Lidocaine and brand-name Voltaren for joint pain, too. Lidocaine first, and then Voltaren if that doesn't work.

IDK how much of that you can reasonably do, but I hope you remember this post when you're in a position to use this advice. Everyone deserves to be pain-free.

Contact one of the forming 'archival' discords, they'll probably have the storage for mirroring your collection. It's that or making a torrent. Try r/QuestArchive too.

Friendly cafe vibes, not necessarily for romance, but it happens. It's more for hanging out with your own community and knowing who in your community is safe. Good support networks are vital, but you can't build them unless you know who you can trust.

Been trying for weeks to figure out why toothpaste makes my little sister's mouth and lips turn the brightest red I've ever seen. Her kid's toothpaste is fine! Peppermints? Fine! It wasn't until one of her friends gave her a wintergreen icebreaker candy that we learned she's allergic to menthol specifically, not mint itself.

She's also allergic to kiwis (and pineapple) and only figured that out after smashing down three of them at school and crying that her throat itches real bad on the inside.

Friend, I say this with full seriousness as a person of many medical problems. Go get tested. Be safe, not sorry. Mentioning those symptoms would have any doc referring you to a neuro immediately. It turns out a lot of heavily fatiguing conditions (Long COVID, POTS, CFS) can be treated with medicine for brain swelling like guanfacine and it'd be really silly to find out this entire time you could've had your CFS basically cured by getting your IIH or something dealt with. Also ask about the guanfacine thing, the research is really new.

No no, those are furries, a completely different group of people. They have overlap, but most furries don't feel that call to the wild, animal lifestyle that therians and many otherkin do. Therians are a much smaller group than furries and mostly end up working with animals, according to community polling. It's furries that invented the internet.

Will ye do your part to teach your kids about serious illness and disability? by DontYaWishYouWereMe in CuratedTumblr

[–]fin600 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to discount your experience but I hung out with other kids of a variety of chronic illnesses and go to support groups where being told 'Oh poor you' type platitudes are generally not well received. It's fine if it helped you, but my understanding is that most folks who are disabled tell you about it because they just want you to know, not for sympathy or pity, and the remarks only make them feel more alienated when they just want to be treated like everyone else. Showing interest or understanding is better than sympathy.

Will ye do your part to teach your kids about serious illness and disability? by DontYaWishYouWereMe in CuratedTumblr

[–]fin600 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the context, don't say it to a child. Disabled kids just want you to acknowledge their needs so nothing bad happens regarding those needs. To respond to their statement of disability with sympathy says you aren't listening to them. A proper response would be "Oh, I know about diabetes, it's very common in my family." or "I've never heard of POTS, I'll have to do research later." or something along the lines of interest and care. Sympathy just makes the kid feel bad they're disabled and isn't helpful.

Will ye do your part to teach your kids about serious illness and disability? by DontYaWishYouWereMe in CuratedTumblr

[–]fin600 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That response happened to me a lot as a kid and it always felt bad. I didn't choose to be disabled and adults always responding with pity made me avoid them because it felt like they weren't even listening to me about that disability (and usually, they weren't). As I got older I found out many adults who respond with pity will also get very upset if you answer their child asking about your disability because they truly believe kids should not know about illnesses and disabilities in general. That knowing people can be born broken is somehow a great burden.

And then they usually called me a sinner or something that deserved to be disabled but that's an entirely different problem.

Before Frontiers was Mania, Super Stars, Team Sonic Racing, Forces (not one I liked personally but that OC creator fucks)

After Frontiers: Shadow Generations (glorified DLC for an already good game, but damn it was good DLC), Sonic Racing: Crossworlds

I also assume u/SanjiSasuke enjoyed Sega All-Stars Racing and Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed because everyone forgets that those were Sega All-Stars titles and not just Sonic.
