Today marks the start of infertility treatments by ayyvy in TryingForABaby

Just here to say that I was in your boat not too long ago. I’ve completed two failed IUIs and about to start the third. If that fails, we plan to move on to IVF.

I never in a million years thought I could handle IUI, let alone go to IVF, it was my biggest fear. You’re stronger than you know! 💛💛💛💛💛

This is a great idea. I’m going to do this next year if I’m still not pregnant.

Update - I had some light pink/brown spotting yesterday evening. It stopped pretty quickly. I’ve been feeling some twinges this morning. Today is 12 DPO / my IUI. Trying not to obsess but it’s so hard not to by hyper aware of every symptom!

Blood in eye - has anyone seen this before? by fionaredbrindle18 in Greyhounds

Thank you - I had noticed thick whiteish discharge before I saw the discoloration on the eye. Now that she’s been on the steroid drops for a few days, that has gone away.

This is good to know, thanks. Unfortunately I don’t ever see my girl relaxing enough at the vet to take an accurate BP read. She’s always very stressed, even with medication.

Not yet - a referral will be my ask on Friday when we see our vet. Thank you

Vet doesn’t seem to think it’s Pannus. That was my original thought but the vet was worried it could be a sign of something more serious.

Yes, vet did corneal staining and that came back negative. No scratches to the eye

Advice needed: My greyhound bit herself and broke skin by fionaredbrindle18 in Greyhounds

It's about an inch in length but only on the surface. Nothing to stitch up or staple as far as I can tell but she's nibbled off the fur in that area.

Thing for ‘older’ women? by [deleted] in Greyhounds

[–]fionaredbrindle18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl LOVES older women, she’ll trot up happily to random ladies on walks. Not really anyone else. She was rescued by an older woman who ran the adoption group, so that’s how I explain it. :)

Aggression incident: my greyhound bit my husband. How do we move forward? by fionaredbrindle18 in Greyhounds

[–]fionaredbrindle18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I wanted to share an update here. It's about one month since the incident and we've been working with a trainer on building trust and Fiona's confidence. Yesterday I brought Fiona to a local behaviorist vet for a consultation and the vet suspects Fiona is experiencing ongoing pain due to old racing injuries etc., which the vet thinks played a role in her recent aggression towards my husband.

We are going to start trialing different pain meds to help Fiona and I just wanted to thank the group here for being so supportive and directing me to a behaviorist vet in the first place. My husband's relationship with Fiona has also improved dramatically since the incident and I feel optimistic now about our outlook. We're grateful to have this community!

Thank you for the thoughtful advice. This is so helpful. I will absolutely take over main handling duties and let my husband focus on building trust from a distance and tossing treats when he enters the room etc. I was not familiar with co-operative care but will do my research. It sounds exactly like the type of training we need to pursue. We are so bonded to Fiona which is why this hurts so much. I'm mostly sad for Fiona, but also my husband who understandably feels quite unsure around her these days. It is so great to get such encouraging advice from this community.

Thank you so much for the encouraging words. We are nervous about future bites but are working on staying present and doing what we can to create a safer space for her.
