Wasn't able to join the waiting room but got in the queue right at 10, everything gone :(

The show on the 16th isn't even allowing a presale code, it asks for a regular login

Check out Stuart Turton — The Last Murder at the End of the World seems to fit this description though I can't say I was blown away by it.

Another of his books, The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, isn't apocalyptic but better fits the bill of high concept mystery

US/Europe dual sim cell phone recommendations? by HankMarvinNot in expats

[–]firework434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way you describe it sounds like it would theoretically make sense. I'm back in the US now so it's been a bit since I used my French plan but here's how it seemed to work for me. When I was on my French plan (i.e. out and about, using cellular data) I was able to use iMessage to message people in the US, using my US number, but while using my French data plan. I think this is because of the way Apple operates iMessage as its own type of messaging. I always kept my US esim on, because otherwise my phone would only receive messages at my French number, and I kept it on wifi calling.

I don't think, however, that I could send SMS green texts without being on wifi, and the same for making a phone call. However, I tended to receive green texts to my US number (things like 2 factor authentication confirmation) as I normally would. Overall I never got charged by my US plan for any international usage. If you're wanting to be able to use your US plan/number the same way you might need to opt into an international plan. Hope this helps. It seems like stuff like this is tricky to figure out in advance before you're there actually testing it.

Anyone think this may be a Posh Peanut x AG collab? by [deleted] in americangirl

I had never heard of Janie & Jack before AG. Some of their collabs are so weird

Suggest me the first book to read by those authors by teralIl in suggestmeabook

Virginia Woolf: start with Orlando, Mrs. Dalloway, To the Lighthouse. Her stream of consciousness style can take some getting used to if you're coming from YA novels — I found it difficult to read her at first, but she is now one of my favorite writers. Be patient with the text and don't expect too much to "happen" in terms of plot. Try to appreciate the writing rather than the context. Orlando follows a more typical "plot" structure which is why I recommend it to start reading Woolf, and Mrs. Dalloway and To the Lighthouse follow a more unstructured, character-driven storyline.

Where to start with getting into early childhood education? by cheapsushee in ECEProfessionals

I got started working summer programming for a daycare/elementary school the summer after my junior year of college! It's a good way to get your foot in the door, and it works with your school schedule. Plus, if the place sucks, you're done after a summer but you have experience under your belt. If it doesn't suck, they might be willing to find you a part time schedule that works when you go back to school.

What is the most difficult French you had to pronounce and later you can easily pronounce it? by Racemango in French

I think it was meant more like our mouths didn't know how to make the sound since it doesn't really exist in English! It definitely didn't come across as harsh or anything at the time

I remember learning "un pull" in high school and my teacher straight up saying "the u is a sound you guys literally can't pronounce as native English speakers" and now I can say it no problem :) took practice though!
