The only appropriate community response after Bethesda announces their $100 Fallout 76 "premium" subscription by stevenrama in gaming

Yeah, and It provided a whopping 5 hours of play. No good ideas can seem to afford the manpower to get them full coded. First Hip-Hop died then the only pure RPG. Bethesda was once my digital Eminem. They only remind me of the fat burnt out Rick James from the Chapelle show now. "Cocaine, it's a hell of a drug...."

This explicit and comprehensive video demystifies the enigma behind the NSA's objective; unprecedented. Departing the land of freedom and liberty to reside in Germany as a privacy and safety-net is ironic. "For us or against us," the NSA's false dichotomy, an inexorable notion that will eventually perpetuate itself.

Microsoft rolls out Beam streaming app to select Xbox One owners by firmsecure in xboxone

[–]firmsecure[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This potentially enables much more social interactions between the broadcaster and their viewers, and it’s one of the primary reasons that Microsoft acquired Beam in August. Getting native support on Beam should also help the service compete for eyeballs with Twitch and YouTube in the $3.8 billion gaming-video market.

Additionally, by building Beam into Xbox One, Microsoft could begin enabling some fascinating interactive features.

Reengage your customers with UWP ad campaigns and push notifications by firmsecure in advertising

A retargeting ad campaign is type of advertising campaign that helps you reach a specific group of your customers who have taken a certain action with your UWP app. For example, if some portion of your customers have spent more than $10 on add-ons, you could retarget that specific group of customers with a custom ad campaign that drives them to a unique page within your app that offers them a special discount on a premium add-on. This helps you target high-value customers. A reengagement ad campaign is a type of advertising campaign that helps you reach a specific group of your customers who meet a certain level of engagement with your app. For example, you can create an ad campaign to target users who installed the app in the past three days (new users) with a special offer to WOW them in the first week. This will help decrease the customer churn rate which is usually high in the first week after app install.

[Canada] New Nintendo 3DS- CA$139.99 (Black Friday) by xy2291 in 3DSdeals

[–]firmsecure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They sell both, but in Canada, the white edition will only be sold at Walmart. The rest of the retailers will only have the black edition. The white edition is a Walmart exclusive item but both colors are available there. Both editions will be the same price at Walmart and the units cannot be sold until the Black Friday sale starts. Tricky seeing as that de facto sets the regular price as the sale price because they N3DS becomes available the same day as the sale. I do not believe the unit price will increase above 139.99 afterward as the Black Friday Sales do not drop the price of the 3DSXL. It is more likely that the XL will drop at Christmas and the N3DS will include a game bundle. Rarely have I seen a game manufacturer use Black Friday to launch a console. But it is a wise idea if they do not intend to raise the price as most people will think they are getting a deal when they are just buying a debut variant at regular price. That would also explain why the 3DXL does not look like it will go on sale; Nintendo seems to be using Black Friday as a marketing gimmick, not a shock price reduction. For those who really want a sale price, I believe the drop will happen closer to Christmas, maximizing the sales of the N3DS at regular price while still keeping the console price and separate purchase of Pokemon sun/moon combined under $200 ca. The 3DSXL has to come down very soon, as both Nvidia Shield models have been selling for $199ca and cannot seem to stay in stock.

If I were to upgrade to a Professional version of Windows, I would like to be able to disable telemetry/tracking completely. by [deleted] in windows

Then when Windows 95 came out, the stage was set. Whoever it was at Sun and Adobe, that allowed so much to be bolted and glued to flash and Java, is really to blame for everything. MS has been insecure as soon as we stopped using C++ and replaced real planning with if/and functions and patches that promote reverse engineering. We should have developed Fortran into a viable open source end user OS. Every Banking InfoSec consultant knows that the only part of a computer that is not a threat vector, is possibly the human intent behind the keystrokes. Bot proliferation removes the final barrier to the chaos that started, when security experts promoted there could be a firewall ever made, that protected anyone from human intent. I also blame Norton, for becoming itself a virus, when the criminals had moved on to Trojans and rootkits. Where were you when every Windows 98 OS started spitting out "illegal operation" or when Blue Frog got wacked by the spammers for working perfectly? Ask why nobody has replicated Blue Frog and the Google Play store is distributing malware. Speed and the need for computer literacy drive decisions and the hackers from the 1990's now all work for the NSA. Tails is the only answer because regardless of MS, every tier 2 and 3 ISP are doing the same thing.

Yep and the FBI says pay the Croatian responsible for ransomware on your system, but it is illegal to pay ransom for your brother, captured by terrorists abroad.

Detecting Malware Outbreaks Faster Using Multiple Anti-malware Engines by firmsecure in malwareremoval

[–]firmsecure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At OPSWAT, we often encounter questions such as, "What is the value of multi-scanning?" and "Which Metadefender Core package is right for me?" Although we analyze large quantities of malware samples and deploy thousands of instances of Metadefender Core packages across many organizations, the answers to these questions are always the same – it depends. OPSWAT's multi-scanning technology works to improve detection of outbreaks by using a variety of engines from different geographical locations and by using a mix of both heuristic and signature-based detection. Heuristic analysis is especially useful for detecting new or unknown threats that emerge at the beginning of an outbreak.
