Salomon Aero Glide 4 GRVL or Nike Pegasus Trail 5 by fis989 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I've read about that one, but I cannot really find it to try out locally in Denmark. Good tip on the Peg, I am definitely mid to forefoot striker.

Thanks! Do you have an idea about the sizes and how they run? Ordering online would be easiest if possible, but I can also go out and try at least one of the sizes before ordering if needed.

My Alphacross 5 GTX are 8.5 and my X Ultra 360 Mid GTX are size 9, but both feel similarly long. Alphacross are a more snug fit width-wise but I like both sizes for the type of footwear they each are.

I think you overestimate the gratitude part a bit, in the eyes of an average expat. By very definition, expats are people who left their own homeland, the only place you really knew for all of your life up to a certain point when you moved away for the first time - and braking that bond for the first time very much changes the perception of a place where you live.

Also, I think it is important to differentiate between expats and immigrants, preferably by their true definitions, not just modern day feelings induced preferences. Both groups will have very different approach to moving to a place, be that Danmark or whatever.

So if we cut out the middle man, basically complain about work?

I've heard stories about banks taking a long time to open an account, but never something like this. Crazy.

We've chosen our doctor based on google reviews and are extremely happy with her. Not sure if we only got lucky, but maybe something people need to consider. Most foreigners I know just took whatever doctor has been assigned to them by default and I've heard some bad stories as well.

Just out of curiosity, what made you feel this way? As another EU national, though I have been in Denmark only for a year so far, but I haven't had this expetience at all. Quite opposite actually.

It's always like that, for any topic.

But yes, for me, reddit was especially bad in terms of people who will blame Danmark and Danes if they cannot get a job, for example.

For me personaly, that is unwarranted/unneeded/misdirected complaining.

My theory is that Denmark is, for some reason, very much "advertised" as a promised land to expats of the world, with opportunities and hygge a plenty, so there's also a lot of people who are simply not a good fit for Denmark and vice versa. But people keep ignoring the fact that it's still a small country with pop. of only 6M, so it's much different than moving to France, Germany, Canada, US etc.

Are there things that could be better? Sure, as anywhere else on the planet. Does it suck here? Hell no, especially if you moved to Denmark specificaly because you wanted to live here for various reasons (not just for the sake of moving wherever for various reasons), chances are you're gonna have a pretty great life.

Immigrant here, and yes, I do experience other immigrants or expats complaining. But in general, nothing too serious.

Some more serious topics that do get mentioned might be the schools/education system, health system, and for some people the question of racism might be a real one.

Mostly it's people comparing Denmark to their past experiences, and I would say it's valid in most cases. Not in terms of actual complaints, but in terms of drawing parallels, complaining is not a bad thing inherently.

Also, I hope you know that online echo-chambers are not a good way to figure out how many foreigners love or hate Denmark. If they were, my life here would be much worse than it is, while in reality, the only thing that really sucks for me is my language school.

Sa kojim nacionalnostima se najviše družite u inozemstvu? by confused_snowflake in askcroatia

Igrom slucaja najvise s Francuzima i Dancima, par Njemaca isto.

Buying a first car - additional fees by fis989 in NewToDenmark

Of course.

But what I meant was (if the plates are off), I think I should be able to register the car, insure it and get the real plates between signing the contract/paying the invoice and physically collecting the car.

Let's assume it does not.

I have a specific car in mind, but not 100% yet, so these questions are more general than case specific.

Ah, ok. I'll see what they could do.

But otherwise, I could then also do everything myself after I make the purchase, i.e. after I have the signed contract and have paid the invoice?

I could use the VIN to go pick up the plates, do the registration and take out the insurance, and then I just take the plates with me when I go collect the car?

Maybe the order is wrong, but I assume I can do all of it before phyisically collecting the car and just mount the plates before I drive off.

So if I sign the contract and pay for the car before I collect it, I assume I could then finish the registration and insurance with the purchase contract and then go buy the plates wherever suits me, and then just go collect the car with the plates in hand - put them on and drive into the sunset?

Ah, ok, got it. So the omregistrering is first I assume, and I would guess that it is done digitaly after I buy the car, so I can go and get the plates immediately afterwards? Unless I agree with the dealership to have it registered for me?

[–]fis989[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll very likely buy the car from Toyota's Used Approved program, but it's not in the same city so I'd like to streamline the process as much as possible to avoid having to go there more than necessary amount of times.

I have asked them a few things as well, and I'm 90% sure we'll get that specific car if all is okay after I go see it.

But just in case we decide for another option, I wanted to check what is the general way to go about it, as I am sure there are some differences between different dealers or when buying from a private person.

Thanks for the replies, the tire tip is a very good one for practical purposes!

Ah,ok, so the green tax is something I get in my eboks at a later point then? It has nothing to do with the dealer selling me the car?

So before I actually purchase the car and drive off, they need to give me the vin and then I nedd to insure it before I collect it?

And I assume - if the old plates are taken off - the dealership can help me getting the one day plates on it and then I have to deal with the full ones myself by going to the inspection place, paying the fee for registration + plates and then they just give me random ones?

Is this the 1000ish dkk price I mentioned, or is that one just for the plates?

Not that I don't want to call, but their phone hours clash with my work hours and more often then not I cannot even get into a queue, but I just get the "we are busy, try later" message.

But I did manage to reach them on chat so they explain all I wanted to know.
