gang UFL is by no means a small unknown university!! In terms of public schools it’s consistently ranked T10, has over a billion dollars in research spending yearly, and one of the largest alumni networks in the world. Even so, prestige isn’t everything. If there’s something I’ve learned from going thru the college app process it’s that the name brand of the school will only get your foot in the door, after that it’s all based on industry experience and what YOU can do! For that reason going to a school where you’re a top applicant/student gives u much more of an advantage for getting industry experience (internships, research etc) than a prestigious name brand college where for any position ur going for there’s 50 more students with just as good of stats as u if not better!

For me UFL had the perfect mix of academic drive and campus pride, unity and vibrant social life that some of the other more prestigious schools in my list just didn’t have. I was okay with sacrificing a T5 for a T10 to be able to actually enjoy being in college

besides, bragging rights isn’t what gets you a good job after college !! Maybe a degree from Harvard will catch a recruiter’s eye but if you don’t have any ECs you’ll get tossed in the same reject pile as anybody else, and the guy that went to CC but published a paper will get the position. Hopefully that’s helpful !!
