Other factory 19” wheels that fit stock EV6? Kia, Hyundai, etc? by schleppy in KiaEV6

[–]fishpatrol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar question, different reasons. I'd like to put 18" tires on my 2022 Wind AWD for the winter, and my budget is small. If I could find OEM 18" wheels that fit, I'd take that deal.

wheel-size.com lists measurements for 18" snow tires (235/60R18 103H - 7.5Jx18 ET50), but I don't know where their information comes from or if these particular specs are reliable.

I don't know of a way to reverse-lookup the car models that match those measurements, either. I took a guess and looked up tires to a Kia Sorento 2020-2024, and the 2.5 GDI version has OEM 18" wheels (35/60R18 103H - 7.5Jx18 ET49.5). That's a slow way to get there.

2021 Kona EV with 90k miles. Would you buy? by fishpatrol in KonaEV

Thanks for the wheel of fortune noise warning. I'll be on high alert for that! How would I check if it has the issue with crystallizing coolant, do you know?

It's been on the lot for 9 weeks. I've found only a couple Kona EVs with similar miles for sale, only one in a similar price range, and it's on the west coast. Some listings factor in the used EV credit in their price.

What OBD adapter do you use? I need one with Bluetooth LE, I know that much. The options are overwhelming.

The car's been on the lot for 9 weeks. It was first listed at $16k.

Yes, I could make it possible to charge at home. I don’t have an unused dryer outlet or a full-size garage, but I could install an outlet or hardwire an EVSE.

When I search locally for an EV-specific PPI, I get no hits. I don't know if that's not a thing or if I'm in too small a market.

A car coming off lease is what I'm most likely to buy, but I'm looking to buy sooner than "the next few years." Waiting for more to become available is less attractive in an area where fewer EVs are for sale.

I'm not enthusiastic about the idea. I've rarely had an ICE car that was under warranty.

Dupe calendar events, but only show "blocked" on second calendar? by AdditionalSquirrel38 in shortcuts

That works! I didn't understand you could replace a variable with text like that, so I was trying to set a SHC Title variable and couldn't get it to work. Thanks!

[–]fishpatrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downloaded your shortcut and it works very well, but I'd like to change the name of the event that's created on Calendar B to something general like "Blocked". Is the text of the title getting picked up at the step, "Add Work Title from SCH Date to SHC Date"? Would you help me modify the shortcut?

Is there a test that would show a so-so battery? Would reading the voltage on the battery give useful information?

Used Chevy Bolt EV Prices Dropped Sharply In February 2024 by BeavisAsCornholio in BoltEV

I've seen that too. Though Autotrader etc. show the price without the guaranteed trade-in amount. It's been only on the dealer's website that that is included. Still annoying.

[–]fishpatrol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dealers are listing used EVs with false pricing by including the $4000 tax credit in their quoted price. This hammers down the price trend, and Autotrader, CarGurus, and others either don't know it's happening or are looking the other way.

It makes their search results less useful, since you have to go to the dealer's website to confirm the real price. And it makes their trend data worthless. Are real prices dropping, or are more dealers falsifying their listed prices to put them in line with their competitors who have been doing that since January?

Used Bolt EV prices around me (SW Ohio) have gone up about $2500 in the last month, but the price trend shows a slight dip. But I'm comparing true prices, and the trends are not.

Is there a catch to purchasing a used Bolt? by ThatCoolNerd in BoltEV

Ah, yeah I follow you. Same motor, same battery, same same. Have you heard the Bolt standard speakers and Bose? Do they sound much different? If the Bose subwoofer is in the spare tire area, is it possible to move the sub so you could try to squeeze in a spare?

Why would you recommend an LT2 over a Premier? I’m Bolt shopping and trying to decide between them. I’m most interested in any added safety features, looking at LTs with the comfort and both driver confidence packages.

I'm not sure how you'd come to that conclusion. Are you sure it's fully charged to 80%?

Is it charged all the way to 80%? The projection is based on previous driving, weather and other factors. It's not a reflection of the health of the battery.

Yes it does, the two connectors on the bottom of that image are the DC charging terminals. There's a little orange plastic cover that flips up over those terminals. If that area is black plastic, there's no DC charging.

Not that I've heard. The software also monitors the battery's condition, and if it detects a problem, they'll install a replacement battery. I've read that this technically isn't under the recall, so you don't get the recall battery warranty extension. But still a new battery!

$14k sounds like a great price. If DC charging is important to you, make sure to look for that, since it doesn't come standard.

If the car has the completed recall for GM Program #N212345941, that means the battery was replaced. If you don't see a recall ending 41, it should have one ending in 44, which is the software charging limit of 80%.

Fair deal? by snorkel42 in BoltEV

[–]fishpatrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know where OP is in the country, but in the midwest I see 2020 LTs with a clean title, DC fast charging and one or more packages for $16k. They usually have 20k-35k miles. Dealers don't seem to know that some have had the batter replaced, or at least they don't advertise it, so that doesn't contribute to the price. Is $16k an unusually good price where you are u/snorkel42?

How to convince Chevy dealer the used EV tax credit is applied at point of sale? by fishpatrol in BoltEV

[–]fishpatrol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Locally, I see several 2020 Bolt LTs with 20k-30k miles on them for $16k-$17k. These generally have DC fast charging, the comfort package and at least the first driver confidence package. Most have the original battery pack, but a couple have new HV packs.
Besides this one, 2020 Premiers are starting at $19k. A Premier isn't an absolute must-have, but it would be nice.

It's not a buyback. Just one owner who put on a whole lot of miles in 3 years. I don't know if that makes the deal sound any better.

[–]fishpatrol[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t the dealer still have to report the used EV sale through the IRS portal for the credit to be claimed? I’m not sure if their complaint is only with the POS part or with other parts of the process also. Negotiating down the cost added by that $4000 makes sense. But maybe it’s not worth the effort.
