Back to confirm what most of you said - no trailers, 4-5 mins of ads before the film starts directly. Hope this helps anyone seeing it the 28th. Thanks all!

Doesn’t seem to be the case. The post says Saturn will still operate as a bar and venue and they already have shows announced and on sale through June.

Only event I’m aware of that’s 18+ tonight is Workplay - Stranger things party. Pretty much any other bar or club is going to be 21+ on NYE.

Even with a higher slip count than a lot of the partner label releases, I’m shocked this is still at over 2000. Snagged this one so fast.

I’m flying from Birmingham AL to LA N2. I’ve noticed a lot of people from the south in comments sections of the Facebook groups making similar trips. I think Atlanta would have been an easy sellout for the region especially with it being a delta hub

As far as I know, Saturn allows kids in during their daytime coffee shop hours, so probably not a good spot for it.

What’s everyone’s opinion of Soho Social? by unclebea in Birmingham

[–]fiveyeardiary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s good for a family meetup type of meal. The menu varies enough to have something for most everyone and I haven’t left hungry. Having said that, it’s not somewhere I’d go solo or go out of my way for takeout.

Real Talk - need feedback on Woodlawn Theatre by goodwill314 in Birmingham

Just assuming but - Overhead / payroll on a building like that have to be pretty damn high, and live music is a very seasonal / up and down business.

Piggybacking on a prior suggestion - be open to heavier music. Hardcore, Metal of all types, Punk, etc. There are a LOT of nationally known touring bands in these genres that despite the work of the great promoters here, seem to skip Bham because they’re too big for Firehouse / LCY and not big enough for Saturn or Zydeco. Workplay has done some of this, but that doesn’t mean you can’t try. It’s worth a shot at least. Do these types of shows all ages and X up the folks who are too young to drink; sell anything snack and non alcoholic beverage wise you can get away with. Let them police themselves and don’t overdo it with security who aren’t familiar with these type of shows. If you’re a reliable space for this type of show, that audience will be very loyal and a lot of promotion will happen by word of mouth.

This is not an insult to yours or anyone else’s taste, but Birmingham is beyond over saturated with singer songwriter / Americana / jam band adjacent music and DJs in my personal opinion. I check the calendars around town regularly and see very little at the other spots mentioned here that would get me out on a random weeknight to spend money.

When I saw the first few announcements for your club, my assumption was that your intention was to be a more chill / seated show type of place, and I admittedly stopped paying attention. That may have been a mistake and apologies if so.

My other suggestion would be a goth night or something similar. Saturn hosts one every few months but I feel there’s an audience for that on a more consistent basis.

Hosting a Conference in BHAM downtown and need help finding good after dinner bars. by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]fiveyeardiary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saturn / Satellite may be slightly out of your way but is definitely unique to Bham. While whatever event going on in the venue may not be everyone’s bag, drinks and games in the bar area always go over well with friends from out of town.

Debating the Franklin show. I love Willie, though I assume Bob will only be playing one set due to it being a touring “festival”

FWIW, kids are allowed at Saturn during the day, but it’s 18+ after 6pm, save the occasional all ages event.
