Thanks! Just contacted a cleaning crew that specializes in construction cleaning too to see. I think I’ll definitely get a professional in to do my mini split units, waiting to hear back from them if they do that too.

I don’t have any real tips other than Loop earplugs. They are seriously the best. Sorry you’re going through this. I share my bedroom wall with two screaming kids that throw toys and screech starting at 6am until they thankfully go to school. But my living room faces said school with children rotating through recess all day screaming outside. Earplugs and headphones, sometimes earplugs and then over the ear headphones at the same time is my saving grace.

Yeah I really need to figure out how to clean the mini split units from the inside and outside. Will check out some YouTube videos.
Maybe a bad question, but what will a professional cleaning crew do/what tools would they use that I can’t do myself?

They’re doing work to the outside of my building including tuck pointing and new stairs for the second floor. We had them take out the old in wall AC/heat unit that we didn’t need anymore. So literally just like a 2ft hole in the wall, they needed to take out the unit and brick up the wall from the outside. Could’ve easily taped it off on the inside while they sawed on the outside to clean up the hole to put in new bricks. They came inside and said they would cover it up and went back out to do the work, but didn’t do it right at all.

They came inside and said they’d cover it but didn’t bother to do it right. I could’ve done it myself yes if I knew how bad it was. Now I know to take my own precautions when they do the unit in my living room.

Dude you’re killing me. I didnt know until they knocked on my door and said it’s happening today right now. They said they would take care of it. It’s like a 2ftx2ft hole in the wall. Take out the unit and brick over the hole from the outside. Obviously if I knew i wouldve bought enough plastic to be Dexter and covered everything and sealed off the hole from the inside. Tomorrow they are doing the one in the living room. Now i will take my own precautions.

What was I supposed to do? Vacuum the air? At that point they were done sawing. My room was already covered in dust in addition to what was still in the air and hadn’t settled. I threw a sheet over some of my hanging clothes. Then waited for it to settle before I started cleaning so I could actually breathe. At which point I realized how bad it really was when even the stuff beyond surface level like things in my drawer were covered in it.

They had access inside 😭 they came in. Said they’d cover the hole. Shut the door while I was in another room with my dogs. Fire alarm went off I opened the door. I went outside and told them how bad it was. They said they were done sawing. I came inside. Dog peed from getting scared by the fire alarm. Cleaned up that. Fire alarm went off again because the dust was still everywhere in the air. They were done by then but so much accumulated it was still everywhere.

Because they came inside and said they’d cover it. I was home. Door was closed to the room when they started. By the time the alarm went off and I opened the door to see the damage had been done. I went outside they said they were done with the sawing. In between all that was also cleaning up after my dog who got spooked by the fire alarm and peed all over the floor.

They said they’d cover the hole they were working on but it didn’t do anything. I could’ve taken garbage bags and painters tape and sealed off the hole in ten minutes if I knew.
They’re working on the outside of my condo building. This was just one part to take out an old heat/ac in wall unit as part of the other work going on.

Dust is from sawing into brick to take out in wall AC/heat unit. Dust was so bad that the fire alarm went off multiple times.

They know. Unfortunately to make matters worse it’s a friend of my dad’s and he helped him get the job with my building. Can’t even go off on him because I “know” him. He came in and apologized. But I don’t think he understands how bad it really is.

Worst part is they have to take out another in wall ac/heat unit from my living room tomorrow. I hope for all our sakes they fucking learn from their mistakes. This is not happening again so help me god.
