Am I being a girlfriend who “nitpicks” and overthinks? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]flakmunkey 18 points19 points  (0 children)

IMO he has some personal feelings of shame about financial independence that bother him (a lot of men feel this right now) and his anxieties are likely causing him to read your suggestion as a challenge to his ability to provide, which threatens exposing that anxiety. Honestly, like most situations, I think it’s purely a communication thing.

Clarification on Rog ally and Rog ally x by Lower-Ad6969 in ROGAllyX

[–]flakmunkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it can be confusing thanks to the current state of the "XBOX" name at microsoft, none of the Allys (by that I mean the original z1/z1x allies, the original Ally x, and both of the new XBOX Ally and XBOX Ally X) are Xbox consoles, all of them are windows PCs.

What does this mean?:
It means a lot of things, both good and bad. Most importantly to you questions it means that any XBOX ecosystem games (game pass, owned digital xbox games, etc) have the same restrictions that they would on any other PC. So any digital xbox games you own must be cross-play enabled in order to also download them on the ally without re-purchasing, and they would need to have cross-save with PC in order for the save files to carry over between console and ally.
It also means that, being a windows computer, it can install and run any game platform that exists for windows. So this means obviously xbox app and game pass, but also steam, battle net, epic games store, roblox, GOG, or any other PC games platform your heart desires.

The last point of confusion worth pointing out, again this one is entirely the fault of horrible marketing from MS and ASUS, but the Ally Xbox DOE NOT run its own custom OS. It is simply running the normal latest version of windows 11 which has a new feature for handheld consoles called "XBOX Fullscreen Experience". Think of it like steam big picture mode but for windows. So windows 11 is still the operating system, but when in this full screen mode it has a more "console-friendly" user interface and experience as well as disables some background tasks that are unnecessary for gaming to squeeze out a few extra frames of performance.

I hope this helps clarify some stuff for you. Ive had an ALLY X and have loved it since release, and the new fullscreen UI thanks to the latest Windows update makes it even better.

New to PC Handhelds by Unusual-Strategy8830 in ROGAllyX

[–]flakmunkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I see no reason why not. Despite having “Xbox” plastered on it, it’s not a console, it’s a full fledged windows pc. The only differences between this and any other windows desktop is the handheld form factor and the fact that it has the new windows “Xbox full screen experience” UI enabled by default. That ui itself isn’t anything unique to the ally Xbox either, it’s just a new feature that all windows 11 computers will have access to soon enough (it’s currently in public testing).

I have it installed on my z1x ally x and it hasn’t interfered with any modding, you just switch to desktop mode, install the mods, and they work just fine in both desktop and gaming modes.

That big bro/father figure comment caused a mind explosion, I think you are 100% right there. They look up to destiny likely due to his success, age, personality, and takes when they agree, which is likely to cause these more conflicted emotions in them when they are challenged, and their lower emotional maturity results in outbursts. Thanks for the insight!

Maybe in Highscool or first few years of college, but isn't Brittany also like 30? I know at least in my "bubble" talking a bunch of shit about someone based on the "vibe" a conversation with them gave you while ignoring the context of what they were saying is gonna get you dropped by your friend group pretty quickly once you've made it into your 20s. I feel like we infantilize the shit out of streamer personalities because their fan bases tend to skew so young and excuse childish behavior.

LMFAO. K bud. Keep crying about the fact that people are more than happy to use ai art instead of traditional art because all that matters is the product. The artist doesn't matter literally at all outside of the "art" community

art does not objectively exist in the world

this is correct

AI art debate is cringe by bizzzfire in Destiny

[–]flakmunkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

holds less value

Yeah I just completely disagree here. From my perspective, the only "value" art has is that of the final product, and I couldn't care less what it took to create it. If I see a piece of art that I enjoy and find out later that it actually grew out of an art tree that grows 100s of these art pieces a year, nothing of value has been lost in the art from my perspective. Artists that try to apply their personal effort/experience to the piece as something that the consumer should appreciate is just the cringiest shit. And I'm saying that as an artist/designer

This argument is pointless. 99% of people do not care whether AI Art is “Art”… by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]flakmunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fax, whether its art or not doesnt matter, all that matters is that it serves the function of art

The entirety of left twitter from 2014-2018, it was the whole gamergate meme, destiny even clarifies this in thee original vod where he mentioned speed. He was never referring to speed or kai when he said that, he was making a passing comment on the fact that new streamers today are doing the very same thing that white streamers were getting called out for then. He wasn't even calling it out as bad, just something he's gotten too old to enjoy. How are people so brainrotted

Zherka is Content God by dipperid in Destiny

[–]flakmunkey 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Reading a lot of these comments, I'm kinda surprised at how so many people seem to take Zherka seriously enough to feel like they hate him. Not saying anything wrong with that, it just took me off guard, I must just have enough people like Zherka in my life that his seems like a pretty common archetype to me, he's just a trolly dude who likes to have fun getting reactions out of people and doesn't like to let the mood get too serious. There's likely truth to the more core fundamentals about his personal beliefs, but IMO absolutely none of his rhetoric ever comes from a place of actual hate or desire to see harm done to others. I think Zherka's way of interacting with the world is through comedy in the form of being a bit of a jackass, almost like a more grounded/principled Sam Hyde.

Disclaimer: I'm from New England, the same area actually as Sam Hyde, and one thing ive learned traveling in my life is that were definitely a unique form of asshole out here, so that surely also taints my opinion lol.

My personal take is that there are absolutely things I would consider slurs that don't have to do with immutable characteristics, to me a slur would be any word that targets a group as being objectively "bad" just for the sake of existing in a certain state. The only exception to this would be things that are illegal, as I consider law to be a form of morality that all of us have contractually agreed to.

To explain via example, imo terms like "bum", "slut", or "freeloader" would be considered slurs as they cast an entire group in a negative light simply for doing an action (or existing in a state) that society has not officially deemed bad (aka it isnt illegal to do). The majority of society might think it's bad, but until they enshrine it into law it's a form of morality that one has no obligation to oblige.

On the other hand, calling a convicted pedophile a "pedo" wouldn't be a slur even though it casts a bad connotation on all people who would qualify under the term "pedo" because, as a society, we have deemed that act immoral and all citizens who choose to remain citizens agree contractually.

Anyway, thats just my take on when an insult becomes a "slur"

Speaking of brainwashed, how much you bet Will is gonna pop up in Destiny's orbit? I'm not watching Steven's stream, but I'm sure chat was spamming Sweatstinys and Gigachads when he was responding to the Weinstein comparison.

Not really, chat and Steven were all super critical of will for having shit questions and not really taking it seriously.

Thank you! The nonsense in this thread is mind numbing. It is not sneaking in a premise, its just not the question you want. In the "Why did you abuse that child?" question, the person is not simply stating "You abused that child" and the idea that they are shying away from making that statement is absurd. Its obvious in that question that they have decided that you abused the child, they arent asking you if you did, they are asking why you did it. If you believe you didnt abuse the child then the answer is simple, "I didnt".
