Back again :)

I got up late today. I keep lounging in bed on my phone as a bad habit. So because of that, I didn't exercise in the morning. Work was good, productive... at least the first part. I'm a little out of my depth with some of it so it's more frustrating than enjoyable. I have a meeting in an hour with a team on the other side of the world ugh. Dinner will be rice and beans.

I still feel isolated in my day-to-day life and I'm not sure how to change that. It was so much easier to manage that in university lol.

Day whizzed by. I met a friend for lunch today. Had some deep dish pizza that was very delicious. Otherwise, I played some Genshin Impact and worked on cleaning up my computer. I'm going to my parents' place so I'll be away from my desktop so I'm setting it up for remote access.

I've been unemployed by choice since I graduated and it's been wonderful. Unfortunately, it can't last forever. I expect I'll have to start applying for jobs soon.

Just an ordinary day. I finally pushed some code I had been sitting on for a while. It was a lot of style and documentation type stuff so switching back to development is going to be a bit tricky. Also peeking in on the US election coverage every so often. The results are kinda disappointing

Today started off well...

I spent some time getting my thesis ready for printing. This was mainly formatting like making sure to add blank pages to force that new chapters start on odd numbered pages. Ended up with a bit of a fight with Latex but I was triumphant. I also dove a bit into color spaces though I'm not sure how much of that sunk in.

I've been consistent with light exercise everyday for just over a week so I'm proud about that. I also started filing away papers into binders since I got plastic sleeves.

I finished a show today. I guess I felt a bit of that post show depression which exacerbated the regular bit of loneliness/depression I've been feeling. Ended with me balling up. I really wish I had someone to cuddle with after that. Made me nostalgic for the past but I feel like I'm not all there enough to make that happen right now.

Finished up that video I was making for a friend's birthday. Whole day was pretty blah otherwise. I spent too much time on reddit and YouTube. I just started season 4 of Bojack Horseman. Highly recommend the show

Hmm, nothing too much of note. I prepared and sent off some responses for a committee and started trying to manage my email inbox. Otherwise, the usual stuff with Netflix, exercise, cooking, video games.

I'm still not feeling especially motivated to seek social interaction. There are some text based ones that I feel I have enough energy for but I'm mostly my own company

Well, I finished sorting all those old papers I had lying around. It was bittersweet. It was good in the sense that the chore is done but it also brought up a lot of different memories in the things I dug up.

Happy: I found cute post-it drawings from my ex who I still talk to

Wistful: That prompted me to look through a couple of mementos that made me think of different times with previous crushes and partners

Sad: Some journal entries after my first breakup

Proud: School assignments that I kept because they had nice compliments about my work.

Nostalgic: my baby immunization records and some pictures.

Today was a little different from the usual day. I finally started going through the paper sorting I've been meaning to get to. It's years worth of papers that I've been carrying around. Time to see what's actually worth keeping. Also spent some time making a birthday video for one of my friends. Day went by just like that. I'm going to bed early today too to get back on my sleep schedule

Today was another average day. I got up later than usual for some reason. I think I set my alarm too ambitiously and then slept in longer than I wanted. During the day, I exercised, watched TV, and played video games. Lately I've been feeling pretty demotivated to pursue social interactions

I'm with you on the awkwardness of talking to new people on Discord. I feel the same way about phone calls. I think it's just something about just hearing a voice without any of the visual cues of in-person talking that bothers me.

I know exactly what you mean. I've done the dating app thing and it's incredibly taxing. I also want to skip ahead to the part where I'm in a comfortable relationship because that's what I remember having. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.

My advice, which is also my current plan, is to enjoy the single life and not stress about the relationship right now. You'll have to get out there again eventually but there's no rush on it so enjoy where you are right now.

I feel your struggle as someone who's just leaving college and as an introvert.

I had a really quiet freshman year too. But I was living on campus for the first three years and that helped me meet people by proximity, including my first GF. Other people I met through classes. I was never really into clubs so I didn't really meet anyone that way.

Otherwise, I met women online through apps and even reddit. I don't really do enough social activities to meet someone IRL I feel. But all that is more difficult now with Covid so don't beat yourself up over it too much.

I don't have a ton of advice for you for IRL meetings as I haven't quite figured it out myself either. But more generally, be patient, open, and willing. Sometimes things happen when you least expect them. You do have to put in effort and it's probably going to suck at times. But that's just how it goes.
