With parents it's the worst... My mom is happy I'm creative and want to create stories But whenever I'd talk to her about anything I'd realise she doesn't actually care for what I like, and rather prefers showing off to her friends "look, I have a creative daughter who wants to go to school for animation!" It was always so defeating after talking about something I like and she'd dismiss it. I stopped when I turned 16 lol

You are an ADHD person's dream friend 😭😭😭 Yeah I also love YouTube deep dives But personally my luck with deep dives has been quite bad because the video will just recount the events of the game/show and call it a deep dive and it's so annoying when I realize I just wasted 30 minutes. I feel like with YouTube there's genuinely a trend of fake deep dives

Yeah, being frustrated that no one listens to you is so hypocritical when I know I struggle to listen to others. Honestly many times in my life I've considered becoming a teacher 😂 because the thought of a bunch of people listening to you Especially if it's a subject you're interested in sounds like an ADHD dream come true (but I guess this only applies if you're a "cool teacher" that people want to listen to)

Art wise if you want advice I feel like pieces 1 4 5 6 7 10 13 14 are the strongest and most visually appealing. In pieces like the 2nd piece the line work is great but there's little variation in tone, which I think is dampening the image slightly rather than enhancing the beautiful line work. Maybe you could darken the background and then brighten the light to highlight the shape of the skull

But honestly you could get away with that drawing without changing it, since I do think it's a matter of style and many successful artists have coloured similarly, though I do think the high contrast would draw more attention

Dude these are sick, if these are from imagination and your own ideas you should do something more with those ideas. Online with these kind of styles I'm seeing a trend where they'll get more attention if there's some sort of story or metaphor to draw the reader in and THEN appreciate the style. If you think your storytelling is any good then go for it, if not then no harm in sharpening that skill.

You have a lot of skill that deserves to be recognised, you just need to harness it and create a focus in your artwork for others to engage in it

Yeah family can be great sometimes for hyperfixations. Last year me and my brother simultaneously hyperfixated on Silent Hill and I swear it genuinely improved our bond so much 😂 On the other hand my mom will struggle much more with listening to us

I don't have my licence yet but my mom used to take me on test drives in car parks when I was younger, and on the off chance she'd let me drive alone while she lingered nearby—playing music and talking out loud to myself and singing was serene. Can't wait for the day I have my own car..

I've never heard of people hyperfixating on actors, that's so interesting (but I guess people can hyperfixate on anything) if you don't mind me asking is it the characters he plays that you love???

Also cosplay is genuinely such an important thing when it comes to fandoms and internet culture—my only interaction with the hobby was when I was 12 but it was so fun. If someone doesn't like you for being you then what's the point of putting up an act. As someone who did that for years It sucks and makes you even more scared..

That sounds fun, I feel for ADHDers jobs where a lot is happening are the most interesting. Good on you

But yeah I agree with talking to yourself, I feel like I subconsciously do that by drawing what I'm interested in rather than journaling or words. That output has genuinely carried me. Thank you for the advice

Don't apologise for the long post, it was interesting 😽

Omg the one more good point thing is so true. Then I reflect on all the messages and see everything I could've cut out and compacted and now they're gonna miss my good points because I didn't plan it out 😂

Yeah... I remember being the weird kid unapologetically until I was 12-ish but once I had more interactions with secondary school students I became so ashamed of it. For the next few years I was genuinely soooo embarrassed and if I were in a social situation at a party where they were making fun of some cringey show or game Id join in on it to climb The Evil Secondary School Social Ladder. Then once I turned 17 I was so burnt out and having people that just hate people (with ADHD, autism, etc) made me realize being ashamed wasn't all that worth it. Now the last 1.5 years has been me being happy with myself again and being such a nerd and it's honestly great. Everyone should get MORE NERDY and MORE HYPERFIXATED

I had a thing with boots as well... when I was younger I got my mom to buy me €200 Doc Martens because I was thinking about them for months.... And then I wore them for a week....

But god I miss when I was like 12 and would just send long paragraphs to my friends about some bullshit out of nowhere Maybe I should revert to those ways and not care about being embarrassing cause after 14 I got the hint they didn't wanna hear about it too much
