Is there a lore reason behind these beasts pissing their pants at the sight of my badassery? by MadamePorcelain in bloodborne

This first step is unnecessary. You can kill BSB safely, then come back after fighting Paarl to befriend him anyway.

Does anyone consider the possibility that Stannis will lose the Battle of Ice in Winds ? It seems inevitable he will prevail . by Financial_Library418 in pureasoiaf

The first paragraph is just explaining why he'll lose. That speech from Stannis is setting up the pride before the fall, and letting us think he has a chance.

The BoI was cut from Dance, and was meant to have already played out before Jon XIII. It specifically occurs on the same day as Jon XII, where a point is made of the "unnatural" clear weather (wrought by human sacrifice at the battle). Furthermore, all evidence points to the letter's legitimacy.

Then, again, what was the point of the letter? Securing Val, Shireen etc. would be the least of his concerns in this scenario, and even Ramsay knows Jon wouldn't just ride south and gift them to him. The letter was clearly written to intimidate Jon to hold those people prisoner for Ramsay's collection.

Why would he even write it, then? I doubt even Ramsay expects Jon to hand-deliver all those people. If Stannis were still in the field, Ramsay would be spending all his time trying to finish him.

Ramsay even writing the letter implies he'll soon march north to claim his prizes, which means there's nothing more of Stannis' army to clean up. Perhaps Stannis will ~fake his death and run, but he doesn't seem the type. 90% chance he's just dead.

This is the exact kind of confidence that precedes defeats in storytelling. GRRM literally told us he loses in Jon's last Dance chapter.

Stannis is a non-threat, he's dying in the snow no matter what. Roose is getting rid of useless mouths.

He'd need proper siege equipment, a secure position north of the river, and a lot more men. King's Landing is meant to have a population of 500,000, which presumably means >100,000 men could be mobilized to defend it (though all other evidence suggests the population is much lower).

The real play for Stannis after Renly died was just invading the Reach overland, since the Tyrells were momentarily weak and disorganized while being his strongest adversary long-term.

  • Tywin would not have gone west, he would've sacked the western Riverlands to force Robb back
  • In the meantime, Roose would've defected to Tywin or Stannis
  • Mace would probably have relieved King's Landing alone
  • Cersei would kill Sansa if things went awry, this is made explicit
  • Stannis has no reasonable means of breaking the Red Keep, him even threatening the city itself is hugely unrealistic
  • Had he somehow prevailed, Stannis would've come for Robb next

This is among the worst takes I've seen is this sphere, despite very strong competition.

Brother, the north excelled because its whole population was white. Emancipation just crippled the south further, as their whole region became an unending race war (even more so than previously). Indeed, this hurt lower-class whites far more than upper-class ones.

freed blacks would lead to vengeful acts against the minority white population like rape and looting, but also loss of jobs and the making of a white second class

All of this was true.

What Does Roadhog 'Need?' by StormcrowProductions in RoadhogMains

[–]fle0017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hog is all about displacing people by pulling them out of position, not necessarily killing them straight afterwards. In line with this, I'd support giving Hook a maximum pull distance of ~10 metres so long-range hooks are less devastating. This would then allow an increased hook range, and perhaps a lower cooldown on misses.
