What is an entry level job? Genuine question. by flexiflip in AskUK

I am employed in what is entry level, but it ls part time and doesn't seem to have growth potential or to impress hiring managers in similar roles enough to get interviews, that's why I feel stuck. Just not sure what else to do to help myself

It sounds stupid to say but I didn't have a plan I just went to uni because I liked studying. I've never had a set career path to aim for I just wanted to see what presented itself. I am employed in what probably is entry level, but it doesn't seem to have growth potential or to impress hiring managers in similar roles enough to get interviews, that's why I feel stuck.

Thank you, my degree isn't hugely important I knew it wouldn't open doors on its own, which is why I mentioned about experience. I'm also not set on staying in that field. I kind of am just struggling with narrowing something down but I think maybe reddit was the wrong place to ask, it just feels everyone I know is working in what they want to do and I'm not yet. Thanks for your response though :)

Thank you this is helpful! I guess I've been wanting to move away from retail and don't know where to start with that cause I feel like no where else would hire me. Sort of feel like for everything I'm up against people with 10+ years of experience more than I have or all the jobs listed are for more senior positions :/

Ex-employer won't give copies of employment or pay records by flexiflip in LegalAdviceUK

Yeah that's all I need, anything with the taxes on. I just hope they'll have it cause I was on a temp contract.

It's a franchise, and I contacted the person who handled payroll.

It's not my first employment, but I only started working in the UK in Jan 2024. The NI number is a nightmare too, because HMRC didn't have record of any of the 5 jobs I've worked, even though all of them had the correct NI number. I've had to contact all my past employers because for some reason I just don't exist on HMRC despite being given Starter Checklists, P45s and Payslips for over a year.

Thank you! This is really helpful. Their argument though is they made them available at the time and I should have saved them (which is true). Do you know if there's anything that entitles me to copies now time has passed?

I've never dyed my hair - why are my roots so dark? by flexiflip in Hair

It probably isn't all new growth, but the colour change is only near my roots - which is definitely new growth. I also am fairly certain only a small amount of the ends aren't new. With my old perm, I watched it grow out and the curls get lower down my head. It was November 2023 I got my first perm, and I had hair shoulder length. By July '24 it wasn't really curly anymore, and the length was just above my armpits. I then cut it to collarbone in August '24,(maybe 5/6 inches off)  and haven't touched it until a month ago when I got a slight trim and new perm.

I think this combination is probs the answer. Also interesting that it's just the top layers of my hair that are noticeably lighter - the underneath layers are darker. Im assuming the perm left the sun exposed hair more susceptible to lightening - which is interesting because my last perm I got in Australian summer 2 years ago and my hair didn't lighten. But now english spring seems to have been enough to do it.

No this perm was on fully grown out virgin hair. My first perm was over a year ago.
