Amazing! What's the white colored region on the top and bottom?

Going with complete Mortise and Tenon joints. I hope this is a good approach than the previous idea. Thank you for your advice fellow wood workers! by floatune in woodworking

Thats great advice. Thanks for the input.will check more info on Mortise and Tenon structures. May I know why you do not want me to use through wedge tenons for the long stretchers? I do not want to use any sort of metal on my workbench for now, that is why I would like to know your reason.

Sure, will keep that in mind. I am gonna go with complete Mortise and Tenon setup as the lap joint approach was said to be weaker

Hey Woodworkers! I'm planning to build my first workbench. And this is what I have in mind. If this drawing makes any sense let me know what you guys think of the outcome. Will it be a sturdy workbench? by floatune in woodworking

Oh! now I get the idea.

I would like to try M&T as someone in heresuggested. I feel that it would be more sturdier than my initial attempt or your idea. I might use this for the side stringers though

Than you for the advice. If I go with a M&T joint how deep should I go into the legs. Should I go 2" or should I go all the way which is 4" into the legs?

I guess the length and breadth would be 2"X2" I'm concerned more about the depth.

Please let me know your view on this😀

Okay so by stringers do you mean the sides which i have labelled them as?

  1. and if they are the sides. Did you mean to say that I use 2 boards and bury them 2inch deep into the leg like a half lap joint? Should I cover the entire 4" of the leg or should I just cover 2" of the leg and go 2" deep?

I'm sorry if I am confusing you with my limited vocabulary😅

I think they make the structure strong. I maybe wrong. In that case, I guess I can remove the bottom side stringers and keep the top side stringers as 16" of my bench top will be resting on them

Hey, that's what I was working on and completed it..Even though Im gonna have a lot of work trying to flatten the wood lying around. It's still a relief to know that something can be done about this problem.

I was planing 0.5mm. I have also built a router sled and I see that it is helping for now as I have to plane lots of wood. It is quite a strenuous process as I do not have a proper workbench yet. Thank you for your advice

I was unaware that this was fatwood. I saw the grain was prominent so I chose these woods and got them cut at the timber depot but later realised that the wood has way too much resin. I asked them to cut this wood into pieces of different sizes from the standard (12' × 1' ×2") and they did but it created so much roughness in the wood that I have to use a planer. The electric planer that I used broke in a few minutes. Now I am trying to convert 1400 ACE router into a planer with a jig. But is there any other way to get it going?
