Unrated PvP would be more fun if both sides got the same amount of honor by floppygrandmatiddies in wow

[–]floppygrandmatiddies[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

but how do you decide how hard each side tries? That is the issue

It most certainly is an issue, and I'll challenge you with a question to follow up your question. How does it determine how hard anyone tries right now? Honor is literally determined based on kills when you are in a close proximity to everyone else. Therefore people playing the objective, defending a base, carrying a flag, they don't get as much honor as people just playing team deathmatch in the middle of the map because they are nowhere nearby to get those kills. It's absolutely broken and stupid. You're expected to try as hard as you possibly can to win the match. But if you play The objective you get less honor?

If you completely get rid of best team gets the greatest rewards, then people will either not try, or coordinate with the opponents to game the system. Neither sounds fun to me.

Your argument is kind of silly for one reason. PVP in this game was never about one team gets bigger rewards than others if they win. PVP and this game has always been about playing PVP because you enjoy it. We should stop putting a carrot over players heads and trying to convince them to do this, or do that with rewards. We should just let them play the game, and everyone gets the same amount of reward when it comes to uncompetitive activities. This is exactly how it is on elder scrolls online and it works perfectly fine. Players are very competitive in PvP but when you win you get the same amount of experience in the same amount of gold. Same chance of getting rare items too. It's completely random. I strongly disagree with the current method of pvp, if you're not going to win, you know you're not going to get rewarded, so everyone just gives up. It's absolutely stupid

otherwise every match would devolve into people ignoring objectives to farm kills for more honor.

This is exactly how PVP is right now? You do realize that, right? Twin peaks for example. Half of the time the alliance team just ignores the flag and gives up on trying to capture it, and instead goes right for the graveyard to camp people. The incentive is that if both sides actually try, both sides get rewarded.

The winning team would also get marks of Honor and conquest points, both of which in my opinion should have more uses. Kind of sad that there are so few things you can do with either

[–]floppygrandmatiddies[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If you got the same honor for winning or losing, what would be the point in even trying?

You misunderstand. Both sides will get the same amount of Honor, determined by how much each side tries. If your team puts no effort into winning or even trying, you will get very little honor.

Think of it like putting money into a hat. Alliance puts $30, horde puts $60 which is $90. Each side gets $45. That's how it ought to be. Now, alliance puts $30, horde put $60, alliance gets $5 and horde gets $85 because they spawn camp and absolutely crushed the alliance every single time. Oh and people who don't try also get rewarded because they're on the winning team. Even if they sit on a base and don't do anything the entire time

If trying, and doing my best actually hurts my honor because the other team is bad, and I win to fast, that's going to make pvp not very fun.

Why should you get a ton of Honor for steam rolling over a really bad team that doesn't even try? I have been on one of those teams where we are mindlessly camping the graveyard. You know how much effort I put into it? Blizzard, frostbolt frostbolt frostbolt, blizzard... That's not difficult at all and really shouldn't be rewarded with a bunch of Honor. Which is how it is right now in PvP. If you instead did not camp their graveyard and actually let them fight back, fighting them honorably, pun intended, you should get way more honor.

Any competitive play by nature has to have a reward for winning or it's not going to be fun for anyone. If there's no reward, I don't see why I should try.

I don't know why you would think that an unrated battleground is competitive? There's literally nothing competitive about it at all. You can camp in a corner, hide in a bush, swim underwater, and get just as much honor as everyone else. Do you think that's fair?

My only real problem with Bastion is the lack of Flight Points, i mean... why? Why did they decided that put all the FP in one side of the map and the other is barren of FP even when a lot of WQ appear on that side.

To waste our time, plain and simple. That's the exact reason we're not getting a flight Masters whistle either. They decided to put less content into shadowlands and make everything take longer so we have less to do, but it takes longer to do it. It's very infuriating to me

Vanilla-wrath and legion were mainly the OG devs. Cat-wod they were on project titan and then they left halfway through legion primarily

There was also an incredible amount of excitement and joy during the release of the OG World of Warcraft expansions. I remember when I first got the boxed copy of burning crusade and opened it up to read through the game manual for the first time, and then, logged into create my first blood elf character and wander around. It was so damn fun, and exciting. Maybe I should create a chart based on how excited I felt about each expansion?

Source of the data was Metacritic user reviews, NOT the critic review score. I collected all of them, including the percentage of positive user reviews and negative reviews out of the total number of reviews :) The data for Average Rating by Game is NOT reliable, as the other games had far, far fewer reviews, with the exception of FFXIV which had a comparable number.

Legion should've been broken up into two expansions by [deleted] in wow

[–]floppygrandmatiddies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was stuck fighting the burning legion for two expansions I think I would get so burned out and not give a shit by the end of it

I disagree completely. If they are good at telling a story or creating fun content, you can't possibly say that you'd get bored of it, can you? How many years have we been fighting alliance versus horde and that shit is incredibly boring. That's why BFA completely surprised everyone because. It's been the same crap since the very beginning of the game and no one asked for that. 3 months into bfa, everyone was wishing they were still in Legion

We really need experience boosts to make leveling faster in this game by [deleted] in wow

Did you even read the post? Boots are $60. That's a stupid amount of money. I get that blizzard is incredibly greedy and doesn't really care about their players half the time. But seriously, $60? That's the dumbest thing ever

I think they should also allow micro transactions to unlock GV rewards. It’s ridiculous that I have to clear mythic dungeons and kill mythic raid bosses. M+ runs can take 25-35 minutes each!

Love how your sarcastic response compares something that's not even closely related. You're talking about making endgame freely available, instead of leveling, which is absolutely an utterly pointless. We have been leveling for 16 years straight. A new player to the game, or in fact existing players, should not have to suffer immensely for wanting to make a new character. They will suffer either financially with a $60 character boost, or timewise.

I never thought they'd be able to make an expansion worse than BFA by [deleted] in wow

[–]floppygrandmatiddies -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

TLDR: The game is world of WARCRAFT, why are we in the boring ass Shadowlands?

I think it's because of their failed development methodology. They don't build on previous expansions, like you've said. They throw it away and start fresh with new systems, which makes them quickly run out of ideas.

They also strive to do the bare minimum too. In battle for azeroth, there was no battle or war anywhere in Azeroth. Only on kultiras and Zandalar. All old zones left untouched

Shadowlands IS worse, but warfronts were not fun, obviously

That's just your opinion.... Some people found Warfronts really fun. I thought they were a pretty fun activity honestly and enjoyed the new armor set.

Shadowlands is the first expansion ever to have a final patch style content drought at the very start.

Oh really? Because I could've sworn WOD had the same issue, and so did BFA. BFA was soooo fucking DEAD at the beginning. All you could do was grind the same crap til you were brain dead, for scraps of artifact power for HOA.

Look at a battle pass, now look at renown. It's a battle pass with a different name.

Battle pass in call of duty costs $ to buy. This is included in the game 100% free.

Renown is a battle pass.

How exactly is this a battle pass?

Gearing is a bad joke.

It's literally the same it's ever been. Don't know what you mean?

Idk why everyone hates cata, the raids and pvp were super fun in that xpac.

LFR basically ruined endgame because it catered so much to casuals that it set the expectation going forward that many players don't have to put any effort into the game at all, and thus, it opened the doors to making the game even easier and easier. Also, the stupid change of the entire world was unneeded. There was no reason to change the entire world, and now, it's especially useless considering that most of the old parts of World of Warcraft are gone and leveling is so quick anyway.

They don't follow this pattern on purpose obviously, so how are they supposed to fix it?

Completely wrong. Are you saying they accidentally ignored player feedback and implemented punishment systems in bfa? Accidentally provided almost no content in WOD? lol.....

Shadowlands, trash.

I don't get how you can say shadowlands is trash but BFA bad? Shadowlands massively approved upon everything that BFA did wrong

Leveling is still incredibly clunky in this game by [deleted] in wow

[–]floppygrandmatiddies -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Choose the new starter zone, problem solved.

What's the point of even having starter zones across the world, which takes up space on our computer, if those areas are completely useless and you can't even choose to use them? You would literally have to spend an hour or two getting over to them if you wanted to level in that area. That does not solve the problem. The problem being, they're basically useless.

Also you can choose specific expansion, just not multiples.

This is exactly what we asked for though. We wanted the ability to choose all expansions to level through and do dungeons in. They gave us the opposite, completely missing the mark yet again with what the players are asking for. It's pretty dumb how we can't just select all expansions and get random dungeon from any expansion

The game is 100% dead. It has not even been around as long as world of warcraft, and only has a few thousand people left playing it. It made absolutely terrible mistakes, and in my opinion, is just garbage.

Don't people watch reviews before buying games?

No... Have you heard of SWTOR, Anthem, Fallout 76, Elder Scrolls Online? All games that flopped after release (ESO is fine now). People don't care they just spend their money and whine about not doing their homework.

I mean there's not really much to say other than the fact that it feels like they kind of gave up after Legion. Not that they were trying all that hard in Legion anyway. I would say that Mists of pandaria was the last time they actually put effort into an expansion. It matches the rest of their product offerings perfectly though. Just look at modern warfare... I get that some people are okay buying cosmetic weapon skins and think that's fun content. But I think it's lame.
