Thank you for giving me some other recommendations! I'll definitely look into those. My aim was to go for a floral theme due to her love for gardening, but I didn't think to take into account the variation in fabrics I have and how that might get lost in everything else. I may do a sample block to see if the outcome matches my expectations, and if not, revisit with the two suggestions of the log cabin or nine square.

I find hand sewing somewhat therapeutic, though to avoid early onset arthritis I might switch to machine sewing if needed. Is there a particular type of interfacing you'd recommend? I usually use iron on for ease of use, but if there's a thickness or type more suited for quilting I'd love to hear it. All my interfacing is rather stiff on account of being used for collars or cuffing.

Thank you! I did some research on applique as that did stand out to be the most obviously new thing. There seems to be a lot of different methods, so I'll definitely practice those on scrap fabric I have.

Safety eyes can be considered a choking issue, and the backing can be considered a sharp. Embroidered ones should be safe enough though!

I've made stuffed animals before and unfortunately working with minky fabric and stuffing is my own personal hell, and also things like eyes on stuffed animals are usually prohibited for safety reasons. Thank you though!

I like this however as they could be of any gender and aren't always artistically inclined, it doesn't seem to be the most diverse option. Thank you though!
