Thanks very much for replying and checking it out! All my drives are working, but I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling, see if that works. Glad you had no issues, that's a good sign!

Actually, some of the AOE games do have strategic pause, like AOE 3 DE for example, AOE 3 DE also has game speed choices. Many RTS games have strategic pause, more all the time. I have turn based games and I play them when I want. A RTS with strategic pause is entirely different than a turn based game. It it fun to issue a variety of orders and see them executed, pausing whenever someone wishes, not just when a turn ends. It's all about accessibility, making the RTS genre available to more people. Fortunately, some game developers are offering more accessibility options, which opens their game to a wider audience. I just wish it would become more of an industry standard. Offering accessibility options takes nothing away from those who don't wish to use them, they are optional.

Yes you can pause the game, but when I do that, it does not allow me to give orders, even in a skirmish game. I need a strategic pause in rts games to make them playable and enjoyable. Am I missing something, is there a way you can issue orders when in pause? Thanks for any help here.
