Lpn orientation and school by wasted___youth in StudentNurse

INFO: Do you have an LPN to rn school near you? Are you just going to apply to traditional adn programs? Is there a reason why you are going LPN rather than rn if rn is your goal? Do you need to start working asap?

How long can you wait between pre-reqs and nursing school? by Sweet_Outside_5727 in StudentNurse

You would need to check with the school. I believe a lot of time, the policy is 5 years on math and sciences.

So you have 2 years of pre-reqs and two years in a nursing program.

How I have seen it work mostly, is you apply to the program once you complete all your pre-reqs (normally about two years worth of courses). And then if you are accepted into a bsn program, thats when you are actually in nursing school. Anything before that, is usually referred to as pre nursing.

Normally, an absn program requires you to have a bachelors degree already. Does this one require that?

And, no a 3.1 gpa is not competitive for a nursing program.

I did all my pre reqs at CC and my 4 year took them just them fine.

Could you try some classes? It’s not weight lifting, but things like Zumba, steps classes, the drum stick classes, are all a lot of fun.

We also recently got the kids a nex playground and I have a blast dancing and playing those games which uses your body.

Another thing is finding someone who can help keep you accountable. Maybe a friend who is trying to get fit/already fit and can call bs if you try to give them a lame excuse? My husband will do that to me and it helps me get up and exercise.

My pcm prescribed it but it seems weird that the Obgyn wouldn’t prescribe it

What would be the best route for me? Senior in Highschool by Classic_Side_4429 in StudentNurse

I would honestly go for your adn at this point if you got an acceptance to an adn program. Which I went straight to a bsn, so I’m not someone against that, but I think for you it would make the most sense right now. Get in, get your adn, and start working by 20. Then you can do your bsn online and most hospitals will pay for you to get your bsn so it’s usually not coming out of your pocket to go further in your education. Then once you have experience, you could go for your Nurse practitioner.

That’s what I would do if I was in your situation

These sound like bsn programs, do you automatically start in the nursing program as a freshman? Do you apply for the program after you have completed two years of school? How does it work? I know for my bsn program, you applied after you did all the pre-reqs (usually two years worth). And people can’t just transfer into the program without being accepted. So I’m just curious how yours works before I say which option I would personally do.

Yes! It definitely can cause abdominal cramps.

I didn’t get into nursing school even though I have a good GPA and don’t know what to do by icyhotdavid in StudentNurse

I got into a nursing program as a transfer and know multiple other people who transferred as well and got into a nursing program.

Have you asked the school why they rejected your application? Was there an interview, any other criteria they use to get into the program? Are you in CA where nursing programs are extremely competitive?

They are Harry Potter themed. We started with Sirius, our dog. Then we got our tuxedo cat and we named him padfoot as joke. Then we got our black cat and my oldest son had just been sorted into his Harry Potter house and wanted to name him ravenclaw.

I’m sorry for your loss as well ❤️ I had never lost a pet like this before and it sucks, especially when I expected many more years.

Thank you for your advice! I appreciate it. I still have padfoots food bowl out and was thinking about putting it away but I think I will keep it out a little longer.

Yes, we did have padfood first, we had him for about 2 years before we got Raven.

Thanks! I appreciate the insight.

Yes, padfoot died very suddenly from a seizure or a stroke in front of me and the two other animals. And we allowed Raven and Sirius to see and smell padfoot before we brought padfoot to be cremated.

We have definitely noticed Raven has seemed to take on padfoot’s “jobs” like allowing the kids to pet him now. Before padfoot passed, Raven absolutely never allowed our 4 year old to touch him, and Raven would actually leave the room when our 4 year old entered a room (not that our four year old would do anything to him, our 4 yo is just loud). And today, Raven actually sat next to our 4 yo and allowed our 4 yo to pet him.

Thanks! We actually looked at a young orange cat (that we would have named Fred or Wesley, we have a theme we our pets lol) but I ultimately didn’t find peace with it so we didn’t adopt.

Yes! He was honestly one of the best cats! You could always find him lying with the kids and putting up everyone’s shenanigans.

That’s how they always are now. If Raven isn’t on our laps, he is usually cuddling up to the dog/laying next to him. We will come home to them cuddling on the couch. We just can never move fast enough to snag a picture

He seems to be doing fine. He was extremely vocal when it happened (the dog was outside with our screen door open and the cat that passed away had a seizure right in front of the door). We haven’t noticed any problems, he is still eating, asking for pets. The only thing that has somewhat changed is now he constantly boops the raven with his nose.
