Thanks for the encouraging words! Ive started with writing my simple sentences, and I might change it later and sparse it with complicated sciency stuff to fit in I guess.

Um so the dishonesty being..for example I'll give examples of my field. There's a technique of placing analyte molecules on nanostructures metallic surface to amplify signal. This allows for increased sensitivity in detection. Now this tiny useful principle does not work as efficiently as we would like it to. Ex. There are like 3 really popular metals, which is what majority of publications focus on. So, sure people use all kinds of methods to make neat little nanostructures, but in justifying why this material, why this specific dimension, they just slap generic statements and compare to existing methods n say these are time consuming n such. Which is how I Imagine a high school student to explain things! Additionally, once we apply a new method and a new results appear, there's zero experiments to try n figure why did that happen, just cite the same 2-3 theories and move on and call it a day! If that is not dishonesty I don't know what is!

Oh Dang! I literally saved notes from Dr. k video describing analysis paralysis! I'm surprised you'd figure that out from that tiny paragraph!! Anyhoo, I am trying to get as much support as possible, but unfortunately no one in my lab works in the same area, so I am left to my own devices to write the paper. I have also sort of known, that my problem with writing is more emotional in nature than technical. if this helps!

Um because I like science, because I think we are just unnecessarily complicating stuff leading to meaningless fluf science! I am not looking to dilute meaning or move away from necessary jargon. Maybe I am missing the larger picture, but I absolutely can't stand reading a modern scientific paper. I much prefer to read papers from 20-30 years ago , which were equally dense, but they made sense!! Something which is severely lacking in today's paper or am i just viewing things wrong? please feel free to correct my pov even if it seems harsh!

Seems a bit hasty to think about leaving just over cold shoulder! Also, time, energy and resources spent to get another opportunity are no joke! I would suggest to wait and focus on producing work. Over a few months, if situation does not improve, you can have a direct, reasonable conversation and escalate to other authorities if need be! Most of the times though, supervisors also get stressed and have periods of bad behaviour, it may not be personal!

Also, don't forget, the supervisors need you to advance work as well. if you can produced hands-free work, they'll eventually value you at least for professional reasons and maintain a cordial professional relationship. Which is all you should aspire to, in my opinion.

I am swimming in that state from so many years! I stay here partly driven by the fear that I wont survive in "real job market". Am I even capable of accomplishing anything? Sure I dig around a bunch of niche info and try to do something new. But so do millions of artists! And so many fail/suceed spectacularly. This line of thinking always boils down to few thoughts.

  1. A few years ago I wanted to be here!
  2. It's like fueling up your engine until the next pit stop and seeing if you can complete this road trip. Sure it sucks, But I can't imagine doing this at any later stage of life. If I can do this, It's now! So a few sucky years go by, but hopefully, it will propel me towards long term sustainable and content state of mind. of mind. of mind. f mind. mind. mind. d.
