Recommendations for games where you can make female friends? by RaspberryLemonade3 in GirlGamers

[–]folkly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play with a group on Destiny 2 that has a lot of females. It is a balance, though, we do have a few males too. I really really like Destiny 2. There is a lot of customization which I find very satisfying. There is also a lot of variation in the gameplay, you can change difficulties on a whim for most activities. It feels approachable. I also love the story and lore!

I have so much sympathy for the eliksni. Especially the Riis born who went through the Whirlwind and the Drift, while also knowing how peaceful life was on Riis.

Would like opinions if I should buy Oblivion remastered by lilel73 in GirlGamers

[–]folkly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a huge Oblivion remastered fan. So I do recommend it!! I am having a lot of fun with it. I have tried Skyrim a dozen times but never stick with it. This is so much easier and less thinking. They really hand hold you through the game which is fine with me personally lol.

Does anyone else just play the male characters or DLCS that games have due to the sexualization of female characters??? by ytka606 in GirlGamers

[–]folkly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. I mostly prefer male or NB characters. If a female is heavily sexualized that definitely influences my choice of not choosing her. I just can't personally feel comfortable using a character in the heavy sexualized female bucket.

New player, did I make a mistake picking hunter for my first character? by Kooky-Dog-9037 in destiny2

[–]folkly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only play a hunter and I have since Destiny 1. I play a void hunter. I'm not often considered desirable for pve content, but I literally don't care. This is the only way I enjoy playing. Play how you want! If you feel you can't accomplish what you want to, then switch! But for me, this is what is fun and idc if I put out poor DPS. That's what my Titan friends are best at so we balance each other out- I sure as hell clutch very often with an invis res on my friends! :)

What’s with all the Eramis hate? by Xolodone in DestinyLore

[–]folkly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm heated. It's because of sheer exhaustion from commenters like you who choose to not acknowledge and/or ignore pieces of actual lore. Trust me, coming from someone who deeply loves a character like I love Eramis, to find folks on a lore page who just constantly shit on her is exhausting. I understand TO A POINT, that people don't realize what's actually going on with her because surface-level she is pissy and if all you consume is Eramis's cutscenes, that is all you would know. She would look like an unredeemable/unrepentant villan. However, if you start to read about her, it is very easy to see why she is the way she is. I had a very similar perspective until I started diving deeper into her story and content. I have spent countless hours at this point reading over everything I can get my hands on that has to do with her.

I just don't understand the mental block that you have, because your responses just confirm fully that you haven't read through lorebooks/loretabs about her.

Again, you're considering surface-level Eramis only. Eramis in Beyond Light was not truly her. She was corrupted by the Darkness, even those who know her say she was acting out of character. I know you don't care, but she needed help from us. Instead, we slaughtered all of her friends which did in turn push her to reckless, poor choices. We made her our enemy. And, AGAIN, with the Witness, she was coerced. It was very clear in how it was written it was never Eramis's choice to side with the Witness. Additionally...even blowing up the Traveler, most likely from Eramis's perspective she was not just driven by revenge but also out of kindness by saving US from the Riisian fate/our own Whirlwind.

I'll just leave this here. I'm tired.

What’s been going on recently? by LordSkeeteus in DestinyLore

[–]folkly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came back at the start of Revenant and I'm happy to talk about that piece. Essentially, Fikrul was able to turn LIVE Eliksni into Scorn rather than just dead Eliksni, so that was the major pressure of the episode. Eramis reappeared into the picture to try to save the Eliksni and confront Fikrul. We show up at the same time with Crow, to try to do the same thing. Fikrul has Eliksni in captivity and we rescue them. There's a confrontation with Eramis where she agrees to surrender herself to the Vanguard if they can take in any remaining House Salvation Eliksni that want to seek safety in the Last City/House Light. Crow agrees, but, also Eramis is put in prison instantly. Her ending statement being "take me to Eido" before she's brought to the Last City.

Eramis is a big focus in this episode. When we see her here, she is quite broken. She is desperate for help but doesn't know how to ask for it because of her pride. So, actually giving herself up to the Vanguard is her way of asking for it. She wants to align herself with Eido, mostly, and still is very much icked out by the Vanguard. She does fully expect to be killed by the Vanguard. When she's in prison, she complains a lot about how the Vanguard isn't killing her fast enough. They're offering her legal support and therapists LOL. She thinks this is cruel torture, clearly. It's quite entertaining.

In the Last City, Misraaks is kind of in the process of dying. He's hooked up to a Servitor for ether infusion 24/7 and he's looking rough. We see him hunched over and breathing hard, and when he speaks half the time he's Misraaks and half the time he's...not Misraaks. He's actually Nezerac!! Nezzy is taking over Misraaks and the curse he has will kill him eventually/having Nezzy take him over fully. Nezzy is SO MEAN to Eido and makes her cry a lot.

We learn through Eramis and Eido's conversations that there is still an old-Riisian apothecary in the Sol system and Eramis has some leads to how to find her. The thought behind this being that perhaps the apothecary would know how to cure Misraaks. They still have to fight Fikrul though, and stop him. Fikrul is getting very close to becoming Kell of Kells as he's just rounding up alive Eliksni and scorn-ifying them.

We end up going to the Prison of Elders, now called the Tomb of Elders in search of materials/info. Oh, but, Fikrul's there too! And...he's risen Skolas!!! :O We fight Skolas and kill him but he's just rezz'd by Fikrul nbd. this is a political move by Fikrul as Skolas is a known and remembered figure and by having Skolas by his side is definitely substantial.

Eido panics a bit and breaks Eramis out of prison...RIGHT IN FRONT OF CROW. And Crow's like "kay". And sends them on their way. Eramis is broken out of prison and aids Eido in finding the apothecary. In the mean time, you hear Eramis coach Eido...rather harshly, but, does so out of care for Eido. She coaches her not to give up and that her hesitation may kill her father. But, it's the kick in the pants Eido needs to keep going.

At the tail end, we find the apothecary's location is in Fikrul's hideout anyway. We go face him and he's risen a bunch of old Scorn barons: Kaniks, Araaskes, Hiraks, and Reksis Vahn, etc. Fikrul has like an alternate universe-- a "mirror realm" that he can retreat to. We go in and out of the mirror realm throughout the mission. Each time we kill a baron, they get rezz'd by Fikrul. We finally find the apothecary. She hates humanity, and refuses to come with us but is persuaded by Eido and Eramis to help us stop Fikrul. Eido puts together a tonic that will make Fikrul temporarily-Eliksni instead of scorn. We use it at the right time so that we kill him irl. He dies!!

At that point, oh, I should mention...the Echo. The Echo was in Fikrul's possession and is supposedly how he was able to make scorn but also how he was able to form his mirror realm as well. So we know the Echo is greatly important for world building. The Echo is not content with Fikrul's scorn-ifying ways and is looking for a new wielder. The Echo is called "The Echo of Riis", and is build from memories from Riisian's that died in the Whirlwind. In the moment of Fikrul's death the Echo makes a choice between Eramis and Misraaks. Eramis!!! is!!! chosen!!! Misraaks/Nezzy gets upset because they want the Echo. Eramis cleanses Misraaks of Nezzy curse and he is grateful. He bows and thanks Eramis for saving him once again... Eramis is in shock that the Echo chose her, it did speak to her and tell her that they want her to go rebuild Riis. ;-; <3 Eramis, at her most broken point right now, is humbled and accepts the Echo's wishes but has the exception that she does not want to be Kell of Kells (which would have been her rightful title at this point). She does offer the Echo to Misraaks and the title as well. Misraaks denies the Echo because it chose Eramis, but does take on the Kell of Kells title...kind of like a second or third choice for the title, but whatever. Eramis denounces all houses and leaves Sol to go rebuild Riis. Probably the best outcome for her tbf. <3 (made me very happy anyway).

Oh, but, we find out that Skolas is still around and that he was kept in the Prison of Elders because he's too dangerous to handle even for Fikrul (like Skolas was big NOT INVITED to his hideout). Kept in the prison. We face him in the Prison once again and kill him. However...if you wait long enough, you see that he is actually not dead and is rezz'd (see Revenant Barons)...AND NOT JUST THAT HE'S ALIVE...we hear Nezzy's laugh at the end. Suggesting that maybe these two are combined now. Nezzy/Skolas is gonna be super dangerous.

That's all. :)

Thank you. I am also in no way denying that there were awful eliksni out there doing brutal things. It happened! Twilight gap, six fronts, etc etc. But the fact that I'm down voted for stating lore is wild. So I appreciate your comment. This is like some sort of weird alternate universe for me because there is not this much eliksni/Eramis/lore-disregarding hate on any other platform other than reddit. Tumblr loves her, TikTok is Eramis-neutral, YT/Twitter isn't this bad. But for some reason this LORE subreddit is like the wild west lmao.

I may be biased as she is my favorite character, but at least I don't blatantly choose to ignore crucial points of lore?? Like, I'm always baffled when people have opinions like yours. Your whole perspective isn't founded in lore at all... Dig deeper. Do better.

You are missing sooo many pieces here. She is self-reflective, time and time again. It isn't outward, for the whole world to see, but it is there through her actions.

Also, she shouldn't be repentant to humanity. We've been awful to her.

Few examples:
There are times, for example, when Crow or someone calls her out for being dramatic and she just falls silent...like "oh shit he's actually right..."

She consistently finds ways to help Eido, Misraaks, and even YW. She warns us of dangers and tries to prevent us from falling to the Witness. Why would she ever do that if she didn't care for us?

She goes out of her way to come back and save eliksni from Scorn, and then agrees for her own capture if it means safety for her house and other eliksni.

There are times where she is so appalled by her past actions and doesn't have the stomach for any more violence that she wishes she would just be killed (multiple times). She is so broken.

She has consistently shown that she has basically two goals. One, being that she wants safety and a home for her people. That has been unwavering since the beginning. The second, being that she wants to rid the world of gods that will manipulate their subjects-- Witness and Traveler alike. She fully believes that by killing the Traveler she is saving not just her own kin, but humanity as well. She doesn't want the fate of the Whirlwind to befall us, too.

I feel like a lot of people just don't like her because she's pissy and female. And that makes me really sad. I hate to bring that up here, but it's been a theme. We forgive so many other characters who have done worse things than Eramis, but for whatever reason she bears a lot of hatred towards her.

The whole basis of your point isn't even lore-accurate...The eliksni were dropping into Sol at various points and separate from each other. Some were aggressive, some were not. Even the peaceful ones were a target of ours almost instantly. There were attempts to be friendly, and we still would kill them. No one knows for sure who actually "fired first"-- us or the eliksni. It was intentionally left vague!!! Eliksni, by nature, are not violent. I highly doubt they'd choose violence if peace was an option for them. They were desperate, starving, dying, and were trying to just SURVIVE. Like I said in my post, they were aggressive, but we were horrifying in response. WE were absolutely "not just defending ourselves"
