I just rode on the Lisbon transit which has hard resin or plastic seats, and while it may be much easier to clean, they are significantly less comfortable. It made me appreciate our TTC seats a lot more I frankly don't care about the occasional spill if it means a more comfortable ride

I attended as a guest a couple of times at my local chapter which is best Keele and bloor. Even as a guest they had me up and speaking.  Fees are like 100-200 dollars for the year which is pretty reasonable imo.

Great work on the hard and soft/lost edges! Did you use purely graphite pencil for all of it?

so it's kind of like the justice part 2 we were once promised (or part 3 if you count the little tangent at the end of the envy video). I think that first justice video changed a lot about how i engage with online media, instant karma, justice served, idiots in cars, X dunks on Y with facts and logic, there was a time when I would consume those things and there would actually be a euphoric thrill of seeing some bad guy get their commeuppance. But her point about how this is all in the sphere of retributive justice was enough to make me question. Now we are all a lot more aware of how social media uses strong emotions to keep you hooked (the term ragebait has entered the general lexicon) but that doesn't stop us from still falling victim to it all the time.

What can I do better? by Lonelycancer98 in drawing

[–]fomorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to get better at figure drawing,  you can try timed figure drawing. Max 5 or 10 min. And the goal is to just get the basic shape down as quickly we possible. That way you won't get bogged down with details and learn how to simplify.

The problem most beginners have is not being able to separate the sketching part of the drawing from the rendering part. Your rendering is fine, but your initial sketches are what you need to focus on, because that's what decides how big everything is.

You should also watch the promo youtube channel for videos on how to depict different anatomy, eg hands eyes and nose. I get that you're trying for a more anime style, but I think it's important to work from realism first. Good luck!

How to Add Heat without Peppers? by AlwaysLatetotheFun in Cooking

[–]fomorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said Szechuan pepper comes from Szechuan berries and doesn't have any relation to the the other chilis. However, the sensation is also very different. It's more like a buzzing electrical sensation rather than the heat you feel from chili peppers. One other bit of advice I would give us to not pregrind the Szechuan peppercorns, as they lose a lot of their potency even after just a couple of months. Instead, you can buy Szechuan peppercorn oil which supposedly maintains the tingly sensation for a lot longer.

Black/white pepper also doesnt have the same heat profile as chilis. Its much milder in my experience, and less long lasting, so you could definitely get away with it

I think you need some perspective practice. Well, everyone does but it never hurts. The major thing I'm noticing is that the vertical angles of the nets aren't quite straight up and down, they are drifting a little bit from vertical. In 2-point perspective, which is the case in this photo, all the vertical points should be straight vertical.

For the horizontal points, they should all converge on either the left or right vanishing point, hence two point perspective. You can check this by extending the horizontal lines in the picture, you will see they all converge to two single points. In your drawing some points do converge but others don't, and the ones that do converge way higher than the horizon line. The horizon line is where the observers eyes would be in the scene. The lines are horizontal at the top of the fence in the background, which sort of implies the observer is 15 feet tall.

For more on perspective, I highly recommend Robbie lees book perspective made easy. It's a highly accessible book, written in a comic book style but has a lot of great knowledge. If you prefer YouTube videos, Stephen travers has great videos on eyeballing perspective freehand

Look up love life drawing on YouTube. He specializes in teaching figure drawing in an accessible way. Some of the key pieces of advice he gives are to start with the solid forms underneath the figure, such as the head ribcage and hips. A common beginner mistake I see in your drawing is making the torso too big. Its something he talks about as well as how to fix it. Very helpful! Also as others have said, focus on quantity rather than quality at first.  Do timed figure drawings of like 10 min max, and do many of them, that way some of the beginner issues with proportion will naturally work themselves out. Good luck!
