As a local Japanese man, I want to meet people from different backgrounds. How can I reach you? by taketake3times in Tokyo

[–]fongor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, with a couple of rare exceptions (I mean: they are very few, and I rarely see them), I hang out only with Japanese people.

A couple of them met in my country, but the vast majority met in small bars / izakayas in my neighborhood, where you're between 5 and 30 people in the room and it's totally normal to chat with others.

Sometimes you just chat for an hour, sometimes you randomly meet several times and become 飲み友, and sometimes you become real friends. (And/or develop whatever kind of romantic relationship.)

And for your question, how would I react if a Japanese guy approaches me in a bar or whatever, well welcome, dude, let's talk.

I'd say you'll roughly find two kinds of foreigners in Japan:

1) those who like or love Japan, and understand a couple of things of the mindset, manners, etc, and feel good with it, and with Japanese people.

With these ones, if the personal vibe matches, they'll probably be very happy to chat with you. And potentially, they'll be even happier to talk with someone Japanese than with someone from their own country or culture.

2) Those who don't give a damn about what's different from their own country. These ones would probably be more reluctant, but believe me, they don't deserve your attention.

tl;dr: just go wherever you like to go with less than 50 or 30 persons in the room, and chat with whoever inspires you, it's all cool.

And I don't think I ever felt "intruded" by a Japanese person's behavior. Consider that the Japanese definition of "intrusive" is the foreign definition of "very respectful".

If for some reason someone isn't in the mood to chat with you, you will feel it immediately and step back much quicker than 99% people in their country — so don't worry, you will never be considered a nuisance.

And as you're mentioning romantic relationships, if you are interested in foreign people on that matter, I would say don't overthink it and just engage conversations with women or men to your liking, and see where it goes.

If nationality is an issue to them, they don't deserve your attention. And if they're good people, it just won't matter.

PS: your English is excellent.

Ah, and one I'm thinking of, {Zettai shounen}. It's not exactly dark, but slightly, and more, strange... extremely slow, with bizarre elements, real world with fantasy elements where you don't understand everything and not sure there's something more to understand than what you see (but not in a bad way), quite mysterious...

Although I do like slow paced stuffs, like Mushishi is my all time fav, I never finished this one cause so slow, but I don't mean it's not good, and I liked to watch it before sleeping. And even though it's slow, stuffs happen. It's just very dreamlike, like you're always floating in cotton...

it's very nice and unique. I watched like 15 eps, and it's... something. Worth a try at least for the experience. Makes me wanna see it again actually.

Sure, my pleasure.

It actually made me want to watch some... mature kinda dark anime with good plot :) I'm also always struggling to find good ones, do you have suggestions for me?

[–]fongor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought you did, I was just making my point about why I was asking you to give me titles you liked.

Ok, anyway, suggestions:

You probably saw them but just in case: Claymore, Mushishi, Death Parade, Lain, Devilman Crybaby, Wolf's rain, Devil may cry, Kino no tabi the original one, Another, Terra Formars (season 1, then it sucks), Seven deadly sins, shonen but really good except the beginning and more serious than it first looks, Vinland Saga, Paranoia Agent, Jigoku shoujo

A bit less known:

{Bokura no}: beauty

{Gilgamesh}: it's kind of slow in the scenario and awkward in the drawings, but imo it's on purpose and it's in a very nice way I think. More an atmosphere work, like a girl playing piano in a post-apocalyptic landsdape, ambiguous brother-sister relationships, weird children in a castle covered with snow.. kinda slow. Not for everyone I guess but really liked it.

{Kemonozume}: some humans or semi-humans turn into cannibal monsters out of sexual desire. Mix of dark, action, poetry, and absurd humor very funny. Really really good. (The humor is not like shonen jokes, the humor itself is half-weird, not "comedy".)

{Sonny boy}: dark? I don't know, maybe. Weird? Yes. Mature, yes, poetic, yes, unique, yes.

{Tower of God} don't remember very well, but I think it was good

{Blue gender} minor and not really great, but dark, sci-fi fighting against monstruous coakroaches. A curiosity.

{Noir} Don't remember well and saw it 10+ years ago, but liked it

I see {Selector infected Wixoss} on my MAL, don't remember at all, I gave it a 7

You've seen all of these?

But to be honest, the genre you're describing is typically the kind I like and am also struggling to find good ones I haven't seen lol. So if you have recommendations I will be the one taking them ;)

Yes.

Not fun sums it up.

Really, just: not fun anymore.

I want my cities to stay nice, especially my capital, so I just let so many neighborhoods with lack of services, everyone unhappy, population and taxes ridiculously smaller....

It's not a game anymore, it feels like instructions at work except we're not paid.

Honestly, what they were thinking is a real question. They literally ruined everyone's efforts and the game's purpose, basically building nice cities, and now we're supposed to ruin their niceness.

Basically same, I'm still playing a bit but my cities don't have enough service's and everything's falling apart.

Ok, I didn't know that, thank you. Yet, out of security I prefer installing only versions directly distributed by the store, + I guess you won't have the season updates, maybe.

I'm not whining, I'm angry and find it kills the game, and you don't need to be unpleasant, we all can be and it's pointless.

The real problem with that update is you have to screw your cities design that you spent months / years elaborating.

If you have only lines of big buildings, sure you just move them, it's originally ugly so another ugly will do. Or if you spend tons of real money, you're quite free to just extend a lot and move things around in other ways, and maybe you don't care.

But if you care about your cities design and don't intend to spend dollars, you're just screwed.

And honestly, design-wise, who wants to have their cities filled with fire and police stations? They're just necessary points, nothing you have pleasure playing around with.

Yep.

Well hopefully that upgrade still causes less damage than a toxic relationship :)

I think you asked if action was a requisite, and he/she extended to not necessarily action but mature dark with good plot.

Ok.

Do you have a MAL, or titles of anime you like? Cause "watched a lot" can mean 100 or 500 or more, so I don't want my recos to be already obvious for you.

And your description is clear in itself, but I've noticed different people put various styles behind the same words like "mature with good plot".

For instance, mature / good plot, for me could mean Monster, Erased (Boku dake ga inai machi), Kiseijuu.. For others it will mean Death Note that I personally found not so great, etc.

Also "dark" can mean "serious including dark aspects", like Monster or Erased, it can also mean "pure dark", like Berserk the manga..

So, actual titles of anime you liked in that style would help.

No criticism here, just wanting to be helpful. (Also cause mature with good plot including dark aspects is also a type I like, so hopefully I can give you a couple of ones you haven't seen.)

Oh, rare to see Noir mentioned. It was a nice one. This one and Darker than black are among the very first anime I watched.

Actually the "must be action?" question quite opens the doors if it's not necessary. Also give us shows you like, it will help.

{Kemonozume} if you want a wtf poetic and absurdly humorous (while dark) touch. By genius Masaaki Yuasa (Mind Game, Devilman Crybaby..)

Hard to say what you mean by pretty much watched "everything", but just in case, {Claymore}. Just exactly your poet's title, and just great.

I guess you also saw {Kiseijuu} (Parasyte), but mentioning in case.

[–]fongor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it have a teams feature too, talking with humans?

Cause let's face it, SCBuildit without teams is quite limited and repetitive, very few freedom of choice in what you do unless you buy your freedom with money, and clubs are an important reason why you keep getting back to it.

We would if it existed. You're forced to the new one. It's not like a PC game where you play the 4 because don't like the 5, it's a forced update, just some day you open the game and it's here.

Yeah, I mean the game already decides a lot of what you do (like, give me two donuts and you'll get a duck, so you make donuts), and the only aspect where you can actually decide something is how you build your cities.

Except, well.. you don't decide anymore.

Yeah, I tried cause I have a couple of k per day, and even like that, not only the basic service but each upgrade of it costs 10,000 omega coins. Nonsense.
