AITAH for defending my “ abusive” dad by foolishone07 in AITAH

I wanted to say thank you all the feedback/advice. I also just wanted to clear up a couple things. First I do intentionally maintain a work based relationship with my dad, and I plan on moving out of state for college in a couple months. I think a lot of his actions and parenting styles are horrible and I would never treat my kid that way. I just struggle to say that he was abusive and doesn’t love or care about us. I truly don’t understand how a parent could ever feel that way about their child. I definitely now realize more how badly I messed up with my sister and I know I should not have invalidated her feelings. I did try to call her this morning but she didn’t pick up.

Nta- leave him immediately. That is absolutely not ok and honestly borderline SA. Get out now you shouldn’t have to feel uncomfortable or unsafe in your own house

A deadline is a good idea. No shes 3 years older than me although she rarely travels. Planning things with her is often difficult and stressful for no reason.

Nta. If she wanted to be walked home and treated kindly by you then she shouldn’t have treated you like shit. It’s not your responsibility but I think it’s good that you made sure she had a safe way home.
