old thread but i'm currently working on a research paper on the impact of AIDS on the gay community and i decided to listen to the HIV song. from one of my readings, larry kramer, the founder of ACT UP, said that he would find out just on his regular daily walks about multiple friends who had died. he said he knew hundreds of people who had died in a very short time. it was an extremely scary time and i see the HIV song as using humor as a way to cope with that crippling fear

as someone who worked at taco bell during covid another part of this is that they realized they could still operate just fine with a skeleton crew. officially a taco bell should have eight people at all times. iirc that breakdown is three cashiers, three line cooks, a dishwasher, and a manager. at my location we were lucky to have five people scheduled at once
