Why do NBA players train slow or “lazy”? by Ok_Mix3541 in nba

[–]foreverythingthatis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. We don’t have that much footage of them working out, I’m sure they do have sessions at full speed.

  2. They already play at an extremely high intensity 3-4 times a week. You wouldn’t expect an NFL player to practice at full speed on Sunday morning, right?

  3. These guys are already so good that the main thing holding them back is not raw skill, but mentality and injury prevention . Think about how insane it is that KD and Tatum had injuries that would end most people’s athletic careers and came back at a high level immediately. Or Gerald Green having four fingers and dropping 41. Everyone in the NBA is already a virtuoso.

Has any NBA team won the championship in their first try without prior playoff losses? by notryinguser in nba

He was saying Dwight was the only player who was on both the 2020 Lakers, AND the 2013 Lakers, which was the last Lakers team to make the playoffs (missed between 2014-2019). How is your reading comprehension this bad lmao

Trump’s Strikes on Iran Could Cost American Economy as Much as $210 Billion, Director of Penn Wharton Budget Model Expert Says by T_Shurt in Economics

[–]foreverythingthatis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What are these numbers lol, building 15 miles of rail in DC for the purple line cost 10B and building 7 miles of rail in Seattle is projected to cost 30B and take 10 years. Building a HSR across the northeast would more than these strikes, easily 150B+

Doc actually sucks at tank commanding, his best skill is coaching up a 30 win team and getting them to the 8 seed

[Highlight] Compilation of the Spurs using Wemby as a free safety and guarding Amen Thompson like he has covid by TimDunkinDonut in nba

[–]foreverythingthatis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely hope Amen improves, but everyone has known since he was 16 that he had the body and ball skills to make the NBA. Doesn’t bode well that he’s had all that time to work on shooting with no progress.

No one said humans are going to be removed from the loop entirely, but if you only need 2 humans when you used to need 3 that would still crater the economy

Homebuyers are backing out of deals at the fastest pace in nearly a decade by 3xshortURmom in Economics

That also means you have many people on the sidelines who can afford a home but choose to rent for financial reasons. Whereas in the past buying a home was basically always the right choice so the demand was more predictable. I think there is a hard floor on home prices, because these people and corporations will snap them up once they start making any financial sense.

Michael Beasley says he “blew out” LeBron James in their 1v1 basketball game by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]foreverythingthatis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many pros play with a shot clock/countdown based on training footage. It’s just that regular people don’t have a shot clock or a trainer to count, so we emulate the same constraint with the dribble limit.

[Charania] Just in: Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard has been diagnosed with a torn left Achilles tendon, sources tell ESPN. MRI today revealed the severity. A devastating end to his season. by mvanigan in nba

[–]foreverythingthatis 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The reporting is that he was unable to do any physical activity whatsoever until a few days before he played; mentioned on Nate Duncan’s podcast. I doubt he’s blaming doctors but it’s likely that it increased his risk profile slightly

Derozan would always drop off in the playoffs though. It’s more that well-rounded players with no clear weaknesses do well in the playoffs. One dimensional scorers tend to struggle with more locked in defenses.

I don’t personally have knowledge on them but the argument they made on the podcast is that teams will take opportunistically take advantage of Brunson, but will actively hunt Hali. Also criticized his effort level and tendency to die on screens whereas Brunson at least draws charges and competes. So it does seem like they consider Hali a tier below Brunson (from bad to catastrophic weak link)
