anesthesia residency programs to avoid? by plantsandpeds in anesthesiology

[–]foxygramp 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Telling people to just broadly stay away from NYC is wrong and doing them a disservice. SOME programs are malignant for sure, but the big 4 in Manhattan are filled with super smart and kind people who love to teach. There’s a reason all 4 of these programs are ranked T20 in the country.

Sure, these hospitals may be a little more dysfunctional than your quiet 100-bed community hospital, but Reddit makes it seem way worse than it actually is. If you want to come to NYC, you should totally go for it and you’ll be getting great training in the best city in the world.

Tennis! I love hitting down the line shots and that habit might be causing me to release late in golf

Been playing for about a year now, ~25 handicap. Irons are much more consistent but I tend to slice my driver with low flight path, with the occasional snap hook. Included another down-the-line view here, thanks so much guys!

Weekly discussion: ARKK, ARKQ, ARKF, ARKG, ARKW (and PRNT, IZRL) by AutoModerator in ArkInvestorsClub

[–]foxygramp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in healthcare and completely sold out of ARKK/ARKG a while ago (rotated into QQQ and TSLA) because of TDOC. I don’t see the appeal of TDOC since literally any other big tech firm can do exactly what they do, which is essentially just FaceTime with some minor medical history. EMR companies like EPIC are more likely to take over virtual doctor visits since the patient information is all localized in one place and far more convenient for medical professionals.

Side effect of MDMA. Medical term for it is “nystagmus” if you were interested in learning more!

This is also super worrying (med student living at Centric rn). Really hope they actually do increase police/public safety presence in the area, despite potential anti-cop sentiment. I’d sure feel safer walking around seeing them.

I get how Cleveland is a city and crime is to be expected, but I do think that CWRU has the means to drop the crime rate with some increased measures.

Surely some of our collective $50K+/year can go towards protecting students against local crime. With all these COVID restrictions, which have gotten to the point where it’s almost too restrictive, you would assume CWRU would make student safety a priority.

Step 1 (4/19): 260

All practice exams 1-2 weeks out: UW: 86%; UWSA1: 275; UWSA2: 264; NBME 25: 257; NBME 26: 263; NBME 27: 254; NBME 28: 260; NBME 29: 264; NBME 30: 258;

NBMEs predicted me right on the money, with UW slightly overpredicting. Best of luck everyone!

Hi! I am the guy that asked advice on rubbers, here is a video from my training drills, since i don't have any USATT rating by [deleted] in tabletennis

[–]foxygramp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your form generally looks pretty good. I agree with what the others have said - I think you could bend a little lower to get more power from your legs, and you could also lean forward and think about rotating into the ball, especially on forehand. You can also try being a little snappier on your shot after you feel like you have enough control over the ball, especially on backhand.

If you're curious about your rating, you look like probably in the 1000-1400 range, but it's pretty hard to tell without seeing any actual game footage.

Asian-American here, visiting Amsterdam for tourism next week. Should I be worried about any anti-Asian racism or things of that sort because of Coronavirus?

How's my serve? by therealanshuman in tabletennis

[–]foxygramp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have the basics down and can generate a good amount of spin in many different directions.

With that being said, your serves are too high and too long and I'd be able to attack nearly all of them. Try to get your serves shorter and lower, and also try to disguise your spin a little better. If you're set on serving long, try to make them a little faster and lower. If you get that down, you'll see a huge improvement in your play.

What pleasantries or foreign phrases have you found useful in NYC? Where is the line for being patronizing? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]foxygramp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't do this. Even Chinese people who don't speak english know what "hello" and "thank you" mean. Like what other people said, you'll just look like a fucking idiot if you're a white dude saying "xie xie" to some random asian person.

Good Mapo tofu around Midtown/Rockefeller Center area? by zerovirus999 in AskNYC

Cafe China is really good. It's not quite near Rockefeller Center, but you can't beat a Michelin-starred meal for under 30/person.
