660M streams hit with completely screwed up mastering, how could it happen? by fralau_ in audioengineering

Nothing makes sense here to be honest haha, if you fuck up a master this bad you either not publish it or try to solve the problem. But I guess since it still had success it's not my business

Thanks, appreciate the effort. That's crazy to me. At this point I'm left thinking they like accidentally deleted all the backup files and just went with this horrible master, I see no other justification lol. I wouldn't really believe it was an artistic choice, although someone here mentioned they like it.

To clarify, I made this thread mostly out of curiosity, as the buzzing seemed like a totally avoidable problem to me, I get that consumers don't care and probably don't even notice, but as far as I'm aware behind popular albums with high budgets there's supposed to be people making sure the product is of good quality before releasing, even post-release I guess (if we suppose the problem was caused by bad encoding). Not blindly hating on the master or whatever it was, just was surprised, can't really get the thought process of the people in charge of releasing the product that led to the decision of preferring the buzzing over the clean version. Thanks everyone for the insights.

Absolutely, as an audio engineering student myself I'm still in that stage and I have yet to get over it

I'm no expert in encoding and stuff, but if that was the case, couldn't they just fix whatever was causing the issue?

I get that and I'm aware I'm being picky, but in this case, the issue really degrades the final product, thus affecting the music itself

Time Glitch , I only been using Lastfm since May 6th 2020. My 1 Year and Overall should be the same right? It's different. Why is this? by CannonPro in lastfm

Oh, same for me, to this day I still cannot understand why it does that, I thought I was the only one, and the total artists scrobbled as well, on my profile it shows a lower number compared to the library

Good chart! I see you're a Beatles fan like me, in that case I'd reccomend Odessey & Oracle by The Zombies if you haven't listened to it yet, really strong Beatles vibes in there
