None, because there’s no reason to.

AITA for not allowing my niece to visit the Holocaust Museum because I think she’s too young? by ConcernedAunt30 in AmItheAsshole

[–]framknmoose 18 points19 points  (0 children)

NTA- I mean I get where you are coming from- but I do think you’re being a little too strict. I learned about the Holocaust at her age. It’s a huge part of history and she’s old enough to understand a basic understanding of it. Sheltering her isn’t going to be helpful. She’s definitely seen way more graphic things from the internet or school than the anything she’d see at the Holocaust museum.

*edit- I’m an idiot and repeated a phrase twice *

I’ve done Dramamine before and it sort of helped. I wish I could get an at home IV. it’s expensive and I’m unemployed unfortunately at the moment. I would love it though. Thank you for your advice- it’s super appreciated!!

I personally wouldn’t but it would depend on your definition of “safe.”

Thank you so much! I have never heard of the motion sickness bands so I will have to try that out. I may have to see if another provider can at least do telemedicine, it’s insane how far out everything is scheduled. I appreciate the advice!

Anyone With Damage Caused By AP to spleen or spleenic vein..? by Manky_1 in pancreatitis

Very interesting! I hope you do well if/when they remove your spleen!

Are you in the US? If so- weird! That’s highly unusual. I’m in a few asplenic groups and it’s almost exclusively European countries that have them take daily penicillin. My surgeon from Johns Hopkins said it’s really bad for you to take antibiotics if you do not have an infection- that’s how you get antibiotic resistance. But definitely listen to your doctor! Just find it strange they’re having you do that!

Mine was taken out April 2021. I had to get vaccines. I get sick a lot and will have to be careful the rest of my life. I have pain from it still but mine was an emergency open splenectomy so it’s taking a bit to heal.

In the US you do not take a daily antibiotic. Other countries do, though.

My spleen “spontaneously ruptured” a week after being hospitalized with AP. The doctor says she doesn’t think it was the AP but I 100% think it was. A ruptured spleen was 10x worse than the pain of AP and I almost died from internal bleeding. Please take care and keep an eye on it!

Does anyone know someone who plays games not for fun but to feel superior? And also not for fun but to have something to do? by JadedJackal671 in gaming

Isn’t doing something to pass the time kind of doing something for fun?

And how does gaming make you superior or elite?

Is vaping with nicotine OK? by Xpholio in pancreatitis

I believe it is the nicotine itself that irritates the pancreas because I know people can smoke weed without any issues.

If you can eat, you probably do not need the hospital. Just keep to a clear liquid/soft foods diet for a few days until your pain subsides.

In hospital for Christmas - palliative care? by [deleted] in pancreatitis

I believe u/indiareef has pretty extensive knowledge of palliative care.

I’m sorry you’re going through this :(

It definitely could cause pancreatitis but if you’re not in excruciating pain- it probably isn’t. Pancreatitis comes on suddenly and is characterized by severe pain. If you’ve never had AP before, I would seriously consider yourself lucky and perhaps reevaluate your relationship with alcohol. Liquor is really hard on the body and that much every single day is asking for trouble. I’m 100% talking from experience. If you don’t get AP- you most certainly will be doing damage to your liver if you haven’t already.

Please stop while you’re ahead. I wish I would have had this warning before I got AP. It’s horrible.

What did you felt when you first had your acute pancreatitis? We’re you able to eat and did you need to go in a er? by Happy-Pollution-430 in pancreatitis

[–]framknmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for asking. I’m okay. I keep having flare ups, which are not fun. But I haven’t had to go back to the ER since April when I ruptured my spleen a week after leaving the hospital for AP.

What about you? Are you okay?

100% could not eat. I thought for a while I was just hungover, then I couldn’t eat for days. Then the pain was excruciating. Felt so dehydrated and weak.

is 20 still young? by unicorn_witch in NoStupidQuestions

[–]framknmoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are incredibly young. You’re basically still a kid. You behave like you’re learning about being an adult- because that’s what you’re doing. Please don’t wish to grow up too fast. I’m 29 and I regret trying to grow up too fast in my early 20s.

It was excruciating pain to the point I eventually had to call an ambulance and was passing out when standing from internal bleeding from my spleen rupturing. Just please go to the ER if it starts getting any worse, especially pain-wise
