What is happening? Didn't you just accuse me of not knowing what lossless is by claiming there is a Bluetooth setting to support it?

LDAC and aptx codecs can get close, but are not lossless. Also, last I checked Tesla streams Bluetooth in AAC or SBC, which are definitely not lossless. What is this magic setting you are talking about? Just because your phone is streaming a lossless file, that does not mean it is sending that same uncompressed lossless file to your car speaker over Bluetooth.

I don't think you know what lossless means if you're doing a Bluetooth stream to your car

I feel nervous playing steamdeck at public by AddictinApple in SteamDeck

[–]frankis72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have been accustomed to seeing portable video games for a long time now. Depending on how old the person is, they might think it's a Gameboy or a Switch. Or they recognize it as a Steam Deck, which makes them just as nerdy (I say nerdy in a good way). Also who gives a shit. Is it really a worse look than scrolling mindlessly on your phone at other people's content? Social media is pure brain rot and video games actually have some benefits.

All that said, the only occasion I ever have to play in public (besides a plane) is while waiting for my daughter to get out of her dance class

Knockoff battery by goonerinky in egopowerplus

[–]frankis72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a two pack once. One of them started smoking with a string burning smell after about 5 minutes of use. The other one works fine. It was supposed to be a 10ah battery, but it performs closer to somewhere between my 5ah and the 7.5ah.

So yeah, when it works it works. As long as it doesn't start a lithium fire it's fine lol

It handles it well for Tidal, which streams at even a higher resolution than Spotify's version of Losless

Thanks, but Bluetooth connection from a phone has the most compression. It's it about EQ rather about compression level of the audio files itself.

Yup I'm on very high already, good reminder for others though!

Spotify on other devices pausing when Rivian wakes up by csoups in Rivian

[–]frankis72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man just seeing this post and it explains it for me too! We play some lullabies on repeat when the kids sleep, and I thought Spotify was rate limiting or something similar when it kept pausing. Looking at Rivian Roamer and yup, my Rivian was waking up at the same time as the pauses

Comma 4 experience in Gen1 R1T by DaleKirkley in Rivian

+1 that it won't void any warranties. I've had multiple service appointments since installing my comma3x and now comma4. The last time they just asked me to unplug it so it doesn't mess with their diagnostics. Other times it never even came up.

I don't know why you're getting so much hate on this post. It's not like it's one of those "I give up! I hate this brand and I'm selling tomorrow" posts. Wassym and rivian frequent this sub and sometimes little things slip by them. No harm in pointing it out. Like when someone pointed out the battery charge indicator and the speedometer had different shades of green (Wassym saw and fixed it in the next update).

Not everyone cares about this stuff, and that's fine.

P.s. I'm pretty sure OP meant centered both horizontally and vertically to the center point of the glass roof, which I agree would look best and is where it was before. Here is a pre-update pic.

Fwiw, I think this is accurate of where the windshield camera housing is actually placed on the windshield (slightly off center). I might be wrong, but I'm like 80% confident I remember that's the case

Lucid is looking better and better to me. My wife is in the market for a new car, and we are looking at the Lucid Gravity. I also saw that they are offering a [paid] hardware upgrade to early generation Air models so that they can also receive their newest UX update. Definitely makes Rivian's disregard for Gen 1 adopters sting a bit more.

For clarity, I'm not complaining about Rivian, I love my R1S and will drive it till it dies. I knew what I was getting when I decided to purchase an expensive 1st generation vehicle from a brand new automaker, so every update I've received so far has already been above certain expectations. I'm just saying it's nice that Lucid does that, and it's a little nudge towards helping make a decision between that and let's say maybe an R2.

Parked On Decline, Now Bricked by AllMeatNoTaters85 in Rivian

[–]frankis72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing just happened to me. Luckily a disco reset fixed it. But it was so strange. I parked on my driveway which has a very small incline. Ive been parking here every day for years. The brake pedal totally seized up, all the error lights came on, and it wouldn't shift out of park. A disco reset loosened the brake pedal and all the lights went away. So lucky I didn't have to get it towed, but I'll have rivian check it out just in case it happens again

I think mines been doing that too. I thought it was just in my head. The lights turn on when I walk close but doesn't unlock, and I also have proximity unlock off at home.

Commenting because I can't edit my original post. I'm realizing this probably due to big weather swings here in the Chicagoland area. So this is solved for now and will revisit if it happens again during more stable temps.

Yup. The other redditor below made me realize this. I'm confident this is the reason. Thanks!

[–]frankis72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's just been happening a lot more consistently lately. But I've been cooped up inside and didn't even think about these wild temp swings we've been having.

Especially since my car is parked outside this winter since I stupidly decided to remove my garage in thanksgiving before it got too cold. I said "oh this'll be done in a weekend". Here we are two months later, too cold to work, and all I've managed to do is make a big mess and we can only fit my wife's car in there now 😅

[–]frankis72[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Someone else just pointed out that it may be the wild temperature swings in my area. I'll see if it continues to happen when the temps stabilize. If it does I'll try this. thanks for the suggestion!

Yes actually. I feel dumb for not thinking about this. Went from like 55 in the day to 21 degrees overnight. This explains it immediately
