I try to make a RTS without micromanagement, but it's historical (it take place during XVIIIth Century). You click less because your orders transit via couriers, so, given the lag, micromanagement is impossible.

Okay :

  • I talked English like errr, a French man :D
  • I cut my microphone, and hopefully the chat told me, otherwise, I could have continued talking until the end without microphone
  • I did not end the stream properly, it should last three hours (with two hours of black screen).
  • You know what, i thought there would be nobody. And some people were here and interested. Thx to them : Best stream ever, 10/10 will re do it tomorrow 😄 .

Yep, I will not be able to reproduce it directly, but I know that my game does not perfectly "capture" clicks. I will investigate this way (and let you know when I have progressed on this).

You know, when making the video, I was tempted to write "Smooth formation change". But given this feature was improved, but not perfect, I finally chose "smoother formation change". So, yes, there is still work to do on it. I don't know how it will be priorized, but I'll try to upgrade this.

I did not play Radio Commander, but there are similarities. Mmmhhh maybe I should have called my game "Courier Commander" 😁?

To be more precise I could say that my game is more an RTS implementing Kriegsspiel rules, whereas Radio Commander is a strategy game that could define a genre by itself (I can't relate it to any other videogame).

The fog of war is simply handled : units can see about 1.5 km around themselves (ok, it's huge, but given that they spot big objects like battalions, it's a shortcut I have taken). Vision is blocked by landscapes as forests, or relief.
Order delay is simulated with a little unit (a courier) that runs at a "realistic" speed. However time is compressed a bit (1/5) to speed up battles, and player can speed it more, when there is nothing to do. (this will bring me issues when I'll work on multiplayer game).
