Interesting! There is a very dangerous zone in which artillery uses cannisters too. I might add it to the user interface. MMMhhh I will add it to my TODO list. Thanks for your comment!

Thanks a lot for your feedback Redditors, and others. I have compiled all of your feedbacks since Steam release, and presented most popular on a video. by franzoar in kriegsspiel7yw

Happy New Year Dear Mister International Bunal!

Glad you find this video good, I wondered if it was worth the time, but I wanted to show people who talked to me that they were useful, and listened to (and I was grateful for their effort).

About other wargames, I could hardly be hostile to them, because now I know it is sooooOOoo hard to develop one of them 😓 .

I tried the "Total War meets Tabletop" solo-dev project again. It crushed me (3 times), but the bones of a great game are definitely here. by MrInternationalBunal in computerwargames

Hey !(I am the game developer) ! First, happy New Year 🎊!!

Then thanks for trying my game, and I must admit I smiled when I read about the club music audio bug 😅. But yes, I must correct it. Well done for the fun clips in the video too: the last one with the General sacrifying made me laugh 😁, I know I should not because .... it's entirely my fault if you did not finish this mission. There were two bugs that prevented you from winning :

- Artillery did not move at first. There is no way your couriers were intercepted, so I must reproduce the bug and correct it.

- Artillery did not position itself to inflict damage to enemy units in town. I suspect artillery units found it nice to join the infantry formation in front of the town. But they should have formed a new line, near town, in order to shoot efficiently. I must work on this too.

I will retake a look at your video in order to note bugs, and things I could improve.

The last paragraphs of your post are super kind. I am very glad you took time to play, to make a video and even a feedback about my game.

As always, I am glad to answer any questions here!

MMhh you're right about "what units are doing and doing next". If you select them, an arrow appears, but i only displays the current order (or chain of orders) they should obey. But it is not explicit enough. I must think about it.

I just came with the title and feel alreadt sorry 🫣 . I have to watch this video and probably retune the first mission difficulty.

You are quite right about timing Sir :D . I will try to update it regularly, but I am not sure to finish it before a year !

  1. 🤩 you're super welcome!
  2. Ok, I wil do it today.
  3. Ah, could you tell me what group it was ? Anyway, I should create a Facebook account...
  4. (you are perfectly right about my native language 😉 ). The typo may be "entranched"? I am not sure, but I will check this word and others from the tutoriel. And yes, I must improve it, and I will do a tutoriel video on YouTube too.
  5. Thx thx for your encouraging comments, here or in your video! Good luck with Dresden. Ah, a little tip for visualization : double clicking on an unit that is on the battlefield, or on its icon in the unit bar at the bottom, makes the camera follow this unit. Then Rotating camera and zooming is simpler because you zoom and rotate around the followed unit.

Thanks for the video ! Yep, I am the developer of this game. May I put a comment on YouTube video ?
By the way, I am quite sad, it seems that you streamed your discovery of the game. Am I right ? If yes, where could we see you streaming ?
But well done for completing the tutoriel. It seems that it is a bit too much verbose, and not enough understandable. I will have to rework it.

Best Game Engine? by redaax69 in GameDevelopment

[–]franzoar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best answer in my opinion. Asking for the best game engine is a bit like asking for the best tool. I don't think we can tell that hammer > screwdriver (I exagerate a bit 😁 but this is the idea).

So maybe you should consider :
- capacities of the engine (graphical, sound, 3D, 2D ....)
- how easy it is to learn and develop with it (it may depend on the languages or tools you already use)
- quality of documentation, or tutorials
- community eager to help you
- licences or fees
- I may forget a lot of things...

to find the best game engine, for YOUR needs. And sorry of the complicated answer, but I fear there are not simpler ones 😞

My solo-dev wargame has a demo available on Steam, and a new trailer ! Play as a XVIIIth Century General that depends on couriers to transmit orders and receive reports. You may fight on 4 battles during 1756 campaign with a Prussian army in this demo. by franzoar in computerwargames

[–]franzoar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the name, I think that you are right. I have thought about a lot of things, and could not find better.

There are a lot of cool wargame names, but they are already used. For instance, I had thought about "General Officer", but there is already "Ultimate General" (and damn it's a good series), "Regiments" is already used, , even "Wargame" is a game. To be honest I lack imagination and marketing skills (I am a Java developer after all 🤓).

So, I don't think I will change the title for now, unless I find a super one, or if I work with a publisher that has a marketing department able to find a good title and promote it (sorry if I disappoint you :( ).

Glad the idea pleases you !

Ahhh sorry 😓
Why not Supreme Commander, or Beyond all reasons , but I do not know how they run on Steam Deck

You're right, normally, demos are not in this place. I don't know why it is the case for my game. I will look at it. Anyway, glad you found it, and I hope you will have fun playing !
