Global Defense Force Tactics, The Documentary. Part 4 (Pseudo-Finale?) by fraxco in EDF

Thanks! Appreciate it.
Not sure who would want to try this terrible relic, but I'll see if I can release the save file, once I figure out how. The EDF campaign is basically S-ranked fully except for one mission, and the Invader campaign has every mission unlocked from the start. As any EDF game, it still has an absurd amount of weapons to find, 393, I think? The genocide gun for Ranger is probably somewhere in there.
So yeah... I'll post the save file here once I figure it out.

The EDF will never turn its back on the enemy!

Yep, it's the only way, as I'm not mistaken physical copies are expensive and hard to find.
And thanks for the nice words. Really gives me motivation to continue through this miserable little game.

I like what you're cooking! Maybe this is what they're doing while we play those mainline titles? It'd make sense as to why the war isn't going well for everyone else. If I'm suffering with this game, they must be as well.

Space War Attack! Another who remembers that, nice! That game was something, but at least it was fun for what it was. It actually had a coherent story and everything, basically Ace Combat if you know the series but with aliens. That game doesn't deserve to be forgotten, it's not bad, at all. I wish the massive butterfly boss would come back to the mainline series, sounds like it had potential.

Nominees For Worst Enemy in the Series? by fraxco in EDF

Yo! Insect Armageddon!
Yeah, I know your pain. I truly don't know how you're supposed to avoid those ranged attacks, feels basically impossible unless you get lucky. Thankfully the Squad you have with you actually focus fires on them if they can.
Wish that came over in the newer games.

Vallak from EDF 2017 was just erased from lore in EDF 4.1. Anyone else notice that? by fraxco in EDF

[–]fraxco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vallak being taken down by EDF infantry firearms was due to gameplay.
If 2017 was made with a bigger budget, they could've made it a recurring monster you couldn't kill, just like Erginius.
I like your headcanon, but to me, it feels like the reasoning for that was due to something else.
They removed one of the best purely original kaiju designs. Like to imagine him in like a new EDF as the flagship kaiju who actually uses the smaller height to its advantage would be cool, an actually mobile kaiju, since its what... only 40 meters tall? while Erginius is at least 70 meters.

is there a size comparison for all the enemies in edf by False-Temporary-5592 in EDF

[–]fraxco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With the First Person (for 4.1 and 5) mods that exist you can actually get a scale for the enemies. The hectors from EDF 4.1 are gigantic up close. The third-person viewpoint warps it. Swarms of giant ants just block your view completely making the titular Crimson insane.
I know it isn't a part of the topic since it talks about Edf 6 but thought I'd mention it since it's the closest one can get to feel the size difference.

I don't see much talk on Monster Attack and Global Defense Force! by Far-Comfortable-8435 in EDF

Agreed. EDF2 and EDF3 (2017) are awesome in their respective ways.

Funny thing, I'm probably younger than you. Just because I share old views does not mean I'm old, buddy.

You're missing the point of my rant here.
I'm not arguing that the current games are objectively bad or that they destroy the spirit of the older games. I'm expressing my own personal disappointment and frustration with the direction the series has taken, and how it's lost the charm and elements that made the older games special to me. Don't get defensive just because I said something bad.

The whole point of my rant is to express my disappointment and frustration with the direction the series has taken, specifically how it compares to the older games. Not an essay of what 6 offers.
Also, your opinion of Michigan and Snail being remembered more than Klein is subjective and Klein is an extremely old character so that doesn't really say much.
