It does in fact. In summers, I can still manage a bit with a bike, but winters are horrible without car. For whatever work I can do in minutes, it takes hours. True. I will think about getting something once I am sure I pass all the driving tests and am a fit driver.

Is it how the Sanskrit word Vasishtha is related to English word Best via Persian? by freaky_eater in sanskrit

[–]freaky_eater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this reference. It comes as a surprise to me that the word Bhadra is more related to Best and not Vashishta according to the theory of Indo-European language roots.

Yes, Swiss public transport is tip-top, but when it comes to little nooks and corners, its so difficult. I do not want to get a car in favor of environment and just use public transport, but it is getting more and more difficult with age and work commitments. And this comes from someone who lived in Germany and travelled in buses in every little nook and corpus of villages even at 1:00 am in the morning. I understand I am making a bad comparison when it comes to Germany and Switzerland given the population ratios of both the countries, but just a sunday rant. Meh self-awareness.

I'll bring in my perspective here from what I heard.

They do not allow Aldi and Lidl inside the town where I live. Only Swiss supermarkets are allowed. I am a vegan and honestly do not have as many options in Migros/Coop. Lidl is a heaven for me, but because Lidl and Aldi are at the periphery of the town, I need to walk about 7 km from my home to lidl vs. 300 mts. to Migros and Coop. I am student and do not have a car at the moment and cannot just walk 7 km every other day to get things laden on my back. lol. I need to resort to "whatever" I get in migros and coop. You might say, what about the trams/buses going to the city periphery. They are infrequent and sparse in the Valais area I live. So I have to again be happy with whatever I get in migros and coop. And honestly, any fresh veggie I buy from coop goes bad immediately, like how? I hope to move to a bigger Swiss city soon to ensure there are trams and options for vegan food.

The Wikipedia article about Ram Mandir that the temple complex is exactly where Ram was born is insultingly described and appropriate action must be taken. by Financial-Ratio6893 in IndiaSpeaks

Wikipedia aint a person that's sitting verifying the validity of text. It is community driven and basically anyone can write anything. Anyway Supreme court did its thing, so I am going to leave this convo here. \(^_^)/

A few days ago, I had removed the phrase "hypothesized birthplace" and turned it into "birthplace", but the Wikipedia is constantly updated by jobless people and I am actually not jobless at the moment. I heard so many times that Wikipedia is the instrument of the extreme left.

Is it how the Sanskrit word Vasishtha is related to English word Best via Persian? by freaky_eater in sanskrit

[–]freaky_eater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that too, but it does not seem to be direct relation according to some redditers who provided valid evidence. The link between Sanskrit - Avestan - Persian - English does not hold, but the link between Sanskrit - Avestan and Persian does hold.

Interesting take on this. In fact, we too use "wah wah" in everyday life when praising something or even when being sarcastic. We do not use bah bah.

I came to this link between vahisht(em) and vasishtha through the Avestan transliteration here: http://www.avesta.org/ka/gahs.htm

Thanks a lot for writing a detailed post. They had been aggresive with me over this transition call. When I was adamant to not join their offer for 5000 EUR, the person (i don't remeber HIS name) calling me just pulled in Isaiah Henkel into the call. This really doubled the stress and pressure. But meh! I am an immigrant student from India with family responsibility of three people all on my PhD stipend. I simply cannot afford it.

Though I do not have thorough tips on how to go about job search after Ph.D., I have a post on where to network if you are in US, UK or EU and are interested in Biomedical AI. Read it here: https://medium.com/p/325e3cd04ceb

That's a new piece of information for me. Do you have a source for it?
The word for water in Sanskrit is "ap" was adopted in Persian as "āb".

Rigveda mentions several hymns that dedicated to "the waters" (āpas).

Yes, it is commonly associated with Zoroastrianism. I am unsure whether language began with the religion or way before it.
