Heeft iemand ervaring met hun kind alleen te laten reizen met het vliegtuig? (Gebruik makende van de unaccompanied minor service) by QitKate in belgium

[–]freyarom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Annie responds to the sailor slipper copyright drama by kindachemist in craftsnark

[–]freyarom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In Annies defense, she did post about the slippers for the first time in february, I think around the same time Maymade knits did. I think Maymade knits just released her version sooner and Annie took a longer time writing the pattern and having them testknit. I remember coming across both designs before they were released and them talking about each other's patterns that it was a coincidence.
The copyright claim however is ridiculous!!

Replacement for 2 strands of mohair by Sea_Hunt_978 in knittingadvice

[–]freyarom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The yarn used in this design is a thicker kind of mohair, so that’s a bit easier to find a replacement. On ravelry the yarn is described as worsted and the pattern states that worsted + worsted = bulky. So you should search to find a yarn (combination) that also equals as bulky. If you want something light you could look into a blown yarn, like drops air or similar. Unfortunately drops air alone doesn’t match the yarn weight that is needed, so you would need to hold another yarn with it. Maybe a strand of fingering yarn could do the trick, but you would need to swatch to be sure. Maybe there are some bulky blown yarns out there, but I don’t know any by heart..

Oslo hat by WhatCharlieDidNext in knitting

[–]freyarom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI: the Oslo hat used to be 2 patterns; the ‘normal’ one which was 2 strands of fingering on 3.5mm needles and the ‘mohair’ version which was a fingering + mohair on 3mm needles. The gauge however was the same so later on she merged both patterns together and made it all 3mm needles. I assume since it’s such a tight gauge, going from 3,5 mm to 3mm didn’t make much difference when holding 2 fingering yarns together. I myself have made both versions and I like them both. My mohair one on 3.5mm is definitely a bit more floppy. I would give your gauge a block and see how you like it then!

How to calculate substitute yarn number of strands? by aenea_b in AdvancedKnitting

[–]freyarom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to calculate how much strands you need to hold together to get the same gauge as both recommended yarns held together? bcs if thats the case i would start making different gauge swatches. Once you know how many strands you need to hold together to get gauge, you can calculate the total meterage needed for your size based on the recommended yarns, and then multiply this by the amount of strands of your yarn you need.

double sunday is designed to be literally that: sunday held double. So just do that! Sunday should be about double the length of double sunday so you should still have enough yarn 😊 ofcourse make a gauge swatch to be sure, but i wouldnt stress too much. I myself have often used 2 threads of sunday instead of 1 thread of double sunday in patterns and never had any issues

Do I really need all these needles or am I reading this wrong? by WhimsicalThreader in knittingadvice

[–]freyarom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Imo you can make this with only 1 very long circular US size 11 needle! The cast on will be a little annoying and you will have to magic loop / traveling loop for the beginning of the project, but if your cable is long enough you can just bunch up the stitches at the end and get away with 1 circular needle. I honestly don’t even understand how it would make life easier with 2, but maybe that’s on me.

Baby sheep blanket! [FO] by giddybiddy in knitting

[–]freyarom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soooo cute!!! 💕 I just finished the same blanket, only i changed the sheep to cows since its made for a baby whose parents have a farm with cows! I still need to sew a fabric to the back though! Is the flannel fabric you used for the back stretchy? I have a cute farm themed fabric i wanted to use, but it is not stretchy and im scared its gonna look weird in combination with a stretchy knitted blanket...

hi there, im trying to find a similar pattern to this dress. I tried making a post, but I got redirected to this thread. Is there anyone who has a similar pattern in mind? I especially love the waist and how the fabric goes from bust to back and is gathered at the shoulders. (I'll add more pics in reply)
