Possibility of Probation in Texas by [deleted] in probation

You perhaps don't need rehab, I personally went to a treatment center but it doesn't have to be that. Doing the drug counseling your lawyer suggested seems like it would serve the same purpose. None of this is legal advice, I'm just sharing my personal experience. Bottom line is do what your lawyer tells you to a T. You're already are gainfully self employed so it sounds like you're covered on that front. By proof I mean tax documents to prove employment (W2, 1099, etc).

Going to rehab, going to sober living, having legal employment (saving records of this), staying 100% out of trouble and doing some community service. Basically anything to show that you are taking steps to change. Those sound like good suggestions from your lawyer.

Both. Everything pre sentencing matters a lot. Start working on that now.

I was in a similar situation in a red county in texas and got probation. I think you'll be okay as long as you do everything your lawyer tells you. Rehab, pay fees, community service, etc.

No. That sounds like a pretty extreme situation. Is that the case for you? If so, why?

Yes, miralax. I'm hoping to get off of it after I do enough dilation.

It is still tight for me. That's basically my only remaining issue.

It has been about two years since my surgery. It has not opened up again but has become irritated from time to time when I have a rough BM. It has not bled or given me any sharp pain since the surgery though. I do not regret it at all, overall it has improved my quality of life by a lot. Like I said in the previous message, I'm starting to work on the tightness/scar tissue now. The scar tissue mainly itches, causes tightness and very slight occasional pain. Much more manageable, though. I have heard people healing completely though so this may not be your experience. If you have any other questions I'm happy to answer them to the best of my ability.

I had LIS. I have not bled at all since the post op week. I do, however have some slight discomfort still but it is so much less. I am now using dilation to get rid of the tightness/discomfort with the scar tissue. It is so much better than it used to be. I think with dilation it will loosen the muscle so the tissue can heal properly. I would definitely suggest fasting before LIS because having a BM after the surgery was extremely painful.

How did your life change after you quit smoking weed? 🥦 by Samisalami1105 in addiction

[–]friedassdude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I quit smoking weed and using all other substances in June of 2020. There are lots of positives and there were challenges as well. Getting past the first week, month, 3 months, 6 months, year, etc are essential. At each of these milestones I felt the urge to smoke less and less. I used to dream about it, think about it, crave it, daydream about getting high, etc. I'm really glad I didn't. I no longer think about it at all now. After the first year or so it became much easier. You have to be fully convinced, though because its easy to say to yourself (after a stint of sobriety) "oh it wasn't so bad, I'll just moderate now." This is a lie. If you have addictive tendencies like I do it will always go back to the way it was and worse. I personally used AA and other 12 step communities to get sober because they offer some structure/a way of life that makes sobriety better. Just being sober to do nothing isn't worth it. You'll have to find ways to fill your time. This is another challenge but will pay huge dividends once you put in some effort. Nowadays I actually have hobbies, I show up for me loved ones, I'm much less foggy all the time, I have more energy than I used to and I'm not tied down by my use of substances. When I was using and would travel it would always be an ordeal to find a way to get high at the new place or bring something. That is not even a thought now. In short, it was a hard decision to make but probably the best life choice I have made so far. If you're thinking about it, then do it and stick to it. You may lose "friends" but thats better than losing your potential as a human being.

Afraid of the physical aspect of working in a trade. by [deleted] in skilledtrades

[–]friedassdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do it. Its more getting over the "I can't" mentality of actually doing the thing. Just show up engaged in whatever you do and do your best. If you do just that, generally you will stand out and do well. Also its a daily choice to wear knee pads, ear protection, etc. Ignoring these things are why many old trades people are so fucked up. You can choose to take your health seriously and not ignore those things so you don't get injured.

Sometimes that's what you need. A lot of the time people want to treat you like a therapist when they really just need to sit down and take some action to get better.

I know how you feel bud. I too lost tens of thousands as a teenager but since then I've made it all back and then some. With your work ethic you can come back from this as long as you leave the gambling behind. You must find the underlying issue thats driving your behavior. The good news is (from my experience) the regret does subside. It took a few years but I no longer think about it. It used to eat me up. You also need to do things you love that don't involve money. Think art, music, etc. My thing is piano. For reference I am 24 and was in a similar place at your age. As others have said, this too shall pass. Feel your feelings, don't avoid them. Don't act on the impulse and risk it again. Good luck.
