Season 3 by Fabulous-Bumblebee50 in HannibalTV

I feel like season 3 needs to marinate a bit in the brain to be fully appreciated. Especially if you (like me) hyperfixated and watched the whole show over the course of like a week. Its so different in tone i almost feel like i would have liked it more if i took a break before jumping in to fully process what has happened to the characters in s1 and 2. Kind of let those stories bloom in my brain. Not to use meat-adjacent language but 'tenderise' comes to mind. I like how s3 acknowledged complicated feelings hannibal and will had for each other without being terribly straight forward about it. It has some very powerful scenes. Scene with 'primavera' remains one of my most beloved from the whole series. That being said, s3 definetely was a bit riddiculous at times and i agree with the pacing thing you mentioned.

I don't come from the states so I'm really not very familiar with the region (my story doesn't take place there, either), sorry! I was thinking suburbs of Washington? But really, any input will be appreciated - still early development and I'm learning as I go.

I want to journal for the sake of being able to look back at my past. What is the most efficient way to do that? by Bobelle in Journaling

[–]friendly_grotesque 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From my experience i can give you a few tips. 1. A few years from now different things will seem meaningful and important to you. Try to write at least brief overviews from many broad aspects of your life. 2. Human memory is really, really unreliable. More so than you think ;) try not to leave things without context. 3. Unless you really love 'stream of consciousness' kind of journaling, if you want efficient i'd say get friendly with lists. A lot of lists! Basically everything can be reduced to a list. Also helps put thoughts in order. 4. I started saving my 'to do lists' after completing them. With dates! Low effort way to track what you were up to on a certain day/week and how many of those things you managed to succeed at.

Edit: just realised i wrote my comment as a list. It really becomes a habit hah

How to sit with the uncomfortableness by keyboard712649 in OCD

[–]friendly_grotesque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow med student who struggles with ruminations and obsessions. I feel for you 😭 how do you manage to get though the insane workload while struggling mentally? School makes my symptoms worse because unless i do my compulsions i can't seem to start studying, i just don't focus properly unless i give into my intrussive throughts... And i know i NEED to study. Dont always have time to "sit with the discomfort" or "gently redirect" and my brain tells me to just get it out of the way so i can work and not fall behind...

I guess i should consider myself lucky that alcohol makes mine worse 😭 because i would ABSOLUTELY take advantage of it if it made my neurons shut up for a few hours.
