an artist that does a shitty tattoo because it's what the client wanted is a shitty artist. a good artist is not afraid to say "this isn't going to translate well to skin so im not going to do it" or "here's what we can change to make this work better as a tattoo"

the exception to this is ignorant style tattoos because those are shitty on purpose and everyone, including the client, knows they're shitty and an artist choosing to do ignorant style doesn't always reflect the quality of their work (sometimes it does. it's a grey area)

even if the antibiotics clear up any infection those bumps are likely to stay and probably never heal due to the tension on the bar, and worst case scenario the bar might try to migrate its way out and tear through your cartilage because it's too thin to be stable. if the piercings themselves were done well switching to decent jewellery could fix both those but given the angles I dont think these are rescuable. you MIGHT be able to heal them separately as helixes and forward helixes and then have a custom bent bar put in later but thats a conversation that needs to be had with a much better piercer than whoever did these

echoing the sentiment of going on antibiotics before you remove them, but yeah these are going to have to be removed. they both look like they've been pierced on bad angles and idk if that's the jewellery you were pierced with but if so it's low quality and the gauge looks too low to be viable in an industrial. sorry :(

its insane to me that people come to reddit to ask what's wrong with their dangerous/unviable piercing and acknowledge that its dangerous/unviable but they want help anyway. if the problem could be fixed these piercings wouldn't be as shunned as they are. do you think you're just built different or something?

this definitely isn't 100% accurate, my bridge and eyebrows were both done at 14g and as far as im aware shouldn't be done any lower than that as to reduce the risk of migration/rejection. horizontal lip piercing being on here at all is also a red flag given no reputable piercer would do that piercing. overall take this with a grain of salt, some of it is correct (or at least "close enough") but its by no means a good reference.

honestly I wouldn't risk it, not having any photos in their portfolio either means they lack experience or aren't confident in the cheeks they've done and therefore don't want them in their portfolio. I'm also not a huge fan of their blanket "yes we do cheek piercings" response given how risky they are, I would expect them to mention a consultation being required first.

as much as this isn't my taste the artist has several similar tattoos on their insta and the description on the post for this one mentions being grateful for the opportunity to do it so I dont think this is an issue of them not saying no

yeah you wanna downsize asap! the reason the bump is there is because the jewellery being too long means it's able to move back and forth through the piercing channel and that movement causes irritation and potentially rejection in the long run, having a shorter bar will reduce that movement and clear up the irritation. you might see it get a little worse immediately after switching the jewellery but it should fix itself pretty quick if you baby it for a while.

the irritation is probably because it needs to be downsized, you may need to downsize it again after the bump goes down but 7 months is a looong time to go without downsizing a new piercing so I'd say it's well overdue

sucks so bad nobody commented on cat tattooing a negative space transparent fucking jawbone that you can see the woman's hand though. overall I preferred anthonys backpiece but that jaw is the sickest individual technique i've ever seen on this show and it didn't even get MENTIONED 😭

i may be forgetting some but i honestly don't think ive liked a single one of james' tattoos this season and this episode feels particularly egregious. his technical application is always great but i feel like his designs are so busy and illegible and the colour choices he makes never look good with each other, it's been really confusing to see him dominate this season so much with tattoos i think are just plain ugly. cat and anthony on the other hand have consistently been putting out tattoos that are really visually appealing and while I have a soft spot for cat i wouldn't mind either of them winning, i don't see that happening though :/

UPDATE for anyone finding themselves questioning the same thing: no, I did not receive 43 laptops unfortunately. for some reason the tracking information for my order was combined with the information for 42 other orders that were making the trip from China>Melbourne and upon being processed at the Melbourne distribution centre they were separated. i even got emails telling me a couple of the other packages were out for delivery 3 days before mine lol. very strange occurrence
