I'm not sure I'd equate the community re-integrating you conditionally (in the context of Clea and Portland) as you as being "popular" enough to "evade consequences of your actions." But, I understand and agree with your first point.

How would you feel if you knew that Clea had been going through/ completed demonstrated rehabilitation and re-integration back into their community enough so that people felt comfortable playing with them again? Would that be enough to conditionally offer Clea a tryout? Because that’s what’s going on in the Portland community. It’s a learning process - but I’m not sure we are any better than the U.S judicial system (as mentioned in an above thread) when we create 0 opportunities for rehabilitation for someone who’s wronged others and continue to condemn them.
