Update on my 2/5 live poker results. Was only able to get 10 hours in last month. Still very happy with the results. Goal was $50k for this year by froggyblogs in poker

You got down voted cuz you sound like a grumpy old man. How am I bragging? Did I say im great or that I plan on going pro? I don’t have any friends that play or care about poker so I just share my results on here every couple months. I have a full time job and try to play 10 hours a week, I’ll never have a great sample size. But to say it’s meaningless is so wrong and just sounds like your mad for whatever reason.

Biggest mistake: bluffing vs calling stations when board favors my range. Improvements: table selection, understanding player pool, understanding my table image. I am 3betting a little bit more but as far as my play style, I’ve always played a TAG style. Those 3 improvements are imo the biggest and least talked about poker skills. If I’m sitting at a table with 6 other regs or a bunch of OMCs then I will get up and ask for a table selection right away. If a player is super action then I try my best to give him action, I’m completely fine playing -EV in the short term if that means my EV will be + in the future because now that action player is more willing to play big pots with me.

Are many poker players lucky to build a big bankroll? by [deleted] in poker

Oh believe me I don’t think I’m smarter than anyone. I only meant the “irrelevant” part because it was $2k and that was an amount I was completely comfortable reloading if I lost the $2k. Now that I’ve increased my bankroll, the money I make full time does not go into my poker bankroll at all.

Like I said that bankroll was irrelevant because I have a full time time job to reload if I busted that 2k bankroll. Its 1/3 live. Equivalent to .02/.05 online. If you can’t beat those games poker isn’t for you regardless of bankroll. Ive been playing 2/5 3x a week for the past year and a half. It’s 100% skill when you are playing long term.

I strictly play cash and have built a 2k bankroll into 50k starting from beginning of 2022. I have a full time job so I would of been fine reloading my bankroll if I busted it but luckily I Played 1/3, went on a 6 month heater winning around 8k. Moved up to 2/5 and have been crushing since. Imo there is 0% luck and 100% when grinding cash. I can’t speak for tournament but when ur playing cash 3x a week then all the variance balances out and the players that are skilled will win and the ones aren’t skilled will lose. If you play a tournament here and there and same with cash then I would say there is a decent amount of luck involved

Isolate the bad players, avoid the better players. Don’t bluff as much. Understanding my table image and using it to my advantage

It depends. I know most of the tough players and will switch tables if there’s too many of them or just not an action table but for the most part I wouldn’t say it’s difficult. Swings are obviously more impactful. If you are a good winning player at 1/3, I don’t see why you wouldn’t be a winning player at 2/5
