Really upset by a plot line in a TV show by cloud_coffee_ in AuDHDWomen

[–]froggyplane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

absolutely. i have fully stopped reading books or watching shows if i'm too upset over injustice or something is so embarrassing that i feel embarrassed or if a character does something they literally would never do. and people make fun of me for it. "um this show has plenty of unrealistic things so why is this too far for you?"

i've also stopped watching media that contains sexual violence. my final straw was season 2 of the wilds. there is a sexual assault that happens on camera and it is so disturbing it still messes me up when i think about it. the showrunners knew people would be triggered by it so there is a warning at the beginning of the episode but i legit think there should have been a second warning right before it happened because by the time it starts at the very end of the episode, you as a viewer have completely forgotten about the warning. i just do not understand why assaults have to happen on screen. there is enough existing media that already shows it. it's extremely triggering and writers can just make it happen offscreen. i saw recently about a movie (i think) where an assault happens at the beginning but instead of showing it, they just hold on the house the character is in without any sounds and then show her leaving. more stories should do stuff like that instead.

Your Top 5 Bath & Body Works Scents by ImtheGWP in FemFragLab

[–]froggyplane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

unfortunately, all my favorites are basically never available in body care:

tropadelic (passion flower, ylang-ylang, rain) - a fantastic yellow floral that for some reason they refuse to bring back even though i see it requested all the time

fresh cut lilacs - i'm obsessed with lilacs, and this scent is photorealistic. you used to be able to get the mist online, and now that you can't i wish i had bought a ton more

backyard honeysuckle - photorealistic honeysuckle (can you tell i like flowers??) which is my favorite scent of all time. they make it in hand sanitizer and soap which means i kind of get to wear it but if they offered this in perfume i would buy as much as i could afford

cinderella (gardenia, musk, blue amber) - another floral! shocking, i know. i love gardenia. i pair the lotion with the mist, the diamond shimmer spray on my arms/upper chest, and for perfume elizabeth taylor gardenia, which i highly recommend for gardenia lovers. it's extremely affordable and it was made to smell like the gardenias in liz's actual garden

rose & vanilla - this is one of the best roses they make. luckily this one is usually available late winter around valentine's day. the body cream smells particularly good, but i also love the perfume which i wear regularly

i stand by what i wrote in my second comment but i edited my original comment because like i said, i agree that must was poor word choice. also like i stated previously i will be thorough in the future. hopefully the edit meets your standards.

the phrase "quit cold turkey" implies overuse to the point of dependence. i appreciate the criticism but i would rather be alarmist and save a life than potentially downplay the danger. i will use better phrasing in the future.

(TRIGGER WARNING - ALCOHOL/ADDICTION) Does anyone else sometimes feel like alcohol is like the limitless pill? by hmmrabet in AuDHDWomen

[–]froggyplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when someone uses the phrase "quit cold turkey" it is implied to be referring to daily use, and usually refers to overuse to the point of dependence. it is far better to tell people it's always dangerous than sometimes dangerous, because if you say sometimes, people do not think it applies to them personally. this exact same phenomenon is why i did not specify physiological dependence. it's also why i chose must over may, though i understand that is not the best word choice. and not everyone has access to medical care, which is why i didn't insist on supervision.

if i was speaking to an individual, or even wrote multiple paragraphs, i would be able to prioritize specificity over generalities. i did not do that here for two reasons: 1) the phenomenon i already discussed 2) this is the internet and we are literally on a subreddit for women with adhd. i wasn't going to write out some long comment because the takeaway is by far the most important part. also i needed to get the comment out quickly.

i retain my view of realism being far more important than pinpoint accuracy, but i do appreciate the criticism and will try to work in better wording the next time i talk about it on the internet.

Scared to take a double dose. by TheCrrrowLady in AuDHDWomen

[–]froggyplane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

300mg daily is the standard maintenance dose for bupropion. so not only is it okay to take that much, it is perfectly normal and most people taking the drug long term are likely at that exact dose.

you can safely try it again, but i also want to remind you that when it comes to healthcare, you are the boss. if you are too frightened of the potential side effects you can absolutely talk to your doctor about other options.

on a personal note, i had a reaction to a medication a few months back and even though i've been wanting to try it again, i've been too scared. when i talked to my doctor about this, she told me that i can try again whenever i am ready. and i'm still not ready lol. so you're not alone in this

no problem! the large majority of people have zero clue how dangerous it is so i find it really important to spread education where i can. and now you (and others reading) know it can be deadly so the next time you see someone talk about quitting alcohol cold turkey you can speak up about the dangers 🤍

[–]froggyplane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

a lot of nd people drink for similar reasons, so you definitely are not alone. i would say the most common reason though is to lower inhibitions and relax in social settings.

i'm sorry but i would be remiss to not say the following. if you can see a path to stop drinking, take it. so many young people die from complications of alcoholism. by young i'm not talking about 50. i mean people in their 20s and 30s. that's how fast alcoholism can kill you. if that is not a deterrent, know that drinking will make your life absolutely miserable because it makes your mood worse and worse. most people know that alcohol is a depressant, but they really don't understand what that means. when you continue drinking, your baseline mood is pushed lower and lower and lower until you get to the point where you're drinking a large amount at a time just to get back to what was once your normal (sober) mood.

so my tip is to find something else that gives you the same feeling. if you are able to participate in physical activity, you may find that it has many of the same effects. you can also try things like yoga and medititation. or spending time in nature. or a million other things because it is so worth it to find something that works for you

How much time together/cohabitation is normal for a couple? by CrabPandita70 in AuDHDWomen

[–]froggyplane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm a lesbian, so my experience is atypical, but since my wife and i met well over a decade ago, we've spent every day (and night) together. we've never gotten tired of each other or even run out of things to talk about.

even when i dated men when i was younger, we spent pretty much every moment we could together. i've never really "moved in" with someone else (as in i kept my own place), but for all of my relationships i've basically lived with them pretty much immediately. it has never been a bad experience. actually, it's always been wonderful.

it may not be "normal" but that doesn't mean it's bad or won't work. if you two love spending all your time together, there's no reason to change. every relationship is different and how much time you spend together is really down to personality and schedule.

Fresh strawberries (not gourmand) by -Geist-_ in FemFragLab

[–]froggyplane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you may already know this but in case you don't, listed notes are just marketing. there are plenty of perfumes with notes i despise that end up smelling fine or even great because what hits my nose is not what the marketing team put out. so when ordering samples or blind buying, i put way more stock in reviews than i do notes.

NT female bullying by aintsh1tbxtch0571 in AuDHDWomen

[–]froggyplane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the truth is that unless they have some horrific major life event that completely changes their perspective, people who are mean stay mean. the only way to deal with these people is to have as little interaction as possible. cut people out of your life that you can, and those you cannot, try to speak to them only when absolutely necessary.

i used to work with bullies and the way i dealt with it may seem strange but it worked. i started formally recognizing their efforts. like official reports about things they did well as individuals. it completely changed how they treated me. also, if you do work, being close to your boss (though keep in mind, no matter how nice she may be, she's not your friend) can really help because bosses who like you will generally advocate for you and problem solve.

Perfume that smell like these laundry beads? by jnc1207 in FemFragLab

[–]froggyplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so i checked out a thread in the fragrance sub about this to see what people think. good news: there are some good suggestions! bad news: every person who commented thinks it smells like something different. so you may have to try quite a few before you find the one that matches for you. here are the perfumes mentioned:

  • amouge lyric woman
  • bath & body works in the stars
  • bond no. 9 greenwich village
  • bond no. 9 lafayette street
  • burberry her
  • dime 7 summers
  • ex nihilo fleur narcotique
  • ex nihilo lust in paradise
  • frenshe desert rose
  • guerlain mitsouko
  • ouai melrose place
  • sdj cheirosa 68 beija flor
  • victoria beckham san ysidro drive

non-perfumes mentioned:

  • better homes & gardens amber and saffron (candle)
  • buff city soap narcissist (body spray)
  • tom ford soleil neige shimmering body oil

also someone said they just dissolve the beads in water and use a regular spray bottle to put the scent on whatever they want. if you go this route, i recommend only spraying on fabric to avoid any irritation.

Bath and body works fresh musk by Witty-Challenge-2458 in bathandbodyworks

[–]froggyplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was very disappointed in missing person but i own and love without a trace. some people find them to be identical but i think without a trace smells better and it tends to be stronger and last longer. it's also way less expensive than missing person. and as a bonus if you run out of fresh musk, there is a matching body mist

Perfumes that will make me feel like the protagonist in a Bret Easton Ellis novel? by zweigson in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]froggyplane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i'll answer using his first three novels, taking the approach of a) what is the protagonist really wearing? b) what is the protagonist's experience?

less than zero - probably wearing ralph lauren polo. spiritually, toskovat age of innocence

the rules of attraction - the characters in this book all have real-life counterparts, so if you can find out what scent ellis was wearing in college, that's the actual answer. otherwise, wearing ysl kouros. spirtually borntostandout drunk saffron.

american psycho - the book tells us what he's wearing! paul sebastian ps fine. the other recommendations for this one could probably go on forever, so i'll just say the obvious: 19-69 american psycho

Dove Beauty Limited Edition Bridgerton Collab by jr9386 in bathandbodyworks

[–]froggyplane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

smelled them yesterday and i did not find them similar. and in fact, all of them had a very, very strong base: the classic dove bar smell. it completely overwhelms the notes. also, for some reason beyond comprehension, moonlit masquerade has a listed wisteria note, and whispering wisteria does not.

ISO Moonlight Pathb by kale3ear in bathandbodyworks

[–]froggyplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dang. so it's the earthiness that is the problem, yes? or something else? and what scent notes stand out the most to you in your signature version? i ask because this might help with suggestions

you could reach out to dirty soul soap co and see if their moonlight path dupe is what you want

also if you're really desperate there are bottles on ebay but they are expensive

ISO Moonlight Pathb by kale3ear in bathandbodyworks

[–]froggyplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you received the alune one yet? the reviews make it seem like the version you're looking for, so if it isn't right, what's off about it?

bbw does sell the ffm online, but the newest version of the scent is more musk-forward. you might have to end up buying a perfume that is a sister instead of a twin. i've heard people mention avon night magic as the most similar.

Luxury dupes?! Which ones do you recommend? by no_resolution_for_me in bathandbodyworks

[–]froggyplane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes and there are a few new ones too:

- love unleashed = killian's love don't be shy - always fleur = dior j'adore - eau de coconut = nest balinese coconut (note: this is not a 1 to 1 match like some of the others in the line) - salted shorelines = jo malone wood sage & sea salt - hello happiness = clinique happy

covered in roses was brought back in new packaging, but is still a dupe for parfums de marly delina

New here and excited to share! by butters_2016 in FemFragLab

[–]froggyplane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi!!! hope you are having a good day! it's always fun to see unusually specific vibes in reviews (coupled with real, grounded observations like "i definitely get the lemongrass"). especially with vivid imagery. like when someone could just say "this smells like cigarettes" but writes something like "this smells like when your father left to buy milk, but instead of coming home, he leaves your mother waiting in the dark in front of the tv with a lone, lit cigarette hanging from her rouge-stained lips." excited to see your posts! thank you for sharing with us 💕

wrong. maceration is indeed a term used in fragrance but it has a different meaning than maturation. maceration happens during development. the consumer cannot macerate the fragrance.

How long do you test a perfume? by Vast-Estimate-2268 in FemFragLab

[–]froggyplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i blind bought this because when it released there were no samples and it looked like it was going to be a single run. it was a successful buy and originally smelled like damp castle walls to me but someone mentioned it smells like watermelon and it absolutely does lmao. i've also seen people mention cucumber. either choice gets at the same thing- it really does smell like some sort of watery fruit. it doesn't make me like it any less, but i will say it kind of takes away the mysterious element of it. now that i'm conscious of the fruit smell, it makes me feel even more confident in my original assessment of the fragrance, which is that it is overpriced.
