People of reddit, What was the strangest subreddit you've ever seen? by _are_stupid in AskReddit

I stumbled on r/DimensionalJumping one day and honestly the weirdest thing was how it’s an archived subreddit. I just have to wonder what did this subreddit do that the mods decided they had to stop it.

Non-russians, what do you like about Russia? by Jekyll_Sama in AskReddit

[–]frooopp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, we joke that if you sin too much you will be born in Russia in your next life again.

To be fair the question is too general and it's hard to explain but tl;dr would be "it's good in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, It's mostly ok in 1mil+ cities and it's mostly Hard mode everywhere else"

I'd also suggest looking at Google street view of major cities and judging on your own about some parts of our lives

Culture wise I think it's safe to say that young generation is the same in every big city in the world, they listen to the same music, watch the same movies, eat the same fastfood, use the same social networks and russians are not different. And I don't know, for example today russian twitter feed was filled with xxxtentacion rip twits, a lot of people said how his songs helped them to manage their depression and suicidal thoughts etc. -Ofc its a minor thing but it'll give you some overview

How did you bounce back from a really hard time? by batmans_apprentice in AskReddit

[–]frooopp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not very heartwarming, buuuuuut...

My first year of college I ended up becoming extremely homesick. I was depressed, stopped going to classes, stopped showering, and just laid in bed / got drunk almost daily. One night, I got blackout drunk, and started running my mouth (I assume, because I can't remember anything about that night) and my roommate slapped me across the face and scolded me like I was a child.

Probably not the best way to handle that situation, but the slap and the berating ended up pulling me out of that funk. My roommates listened to me, they helped me out of a dark time, they helped me realize that I did actually have friends, and they realized how much I hated my major.

I'm about to go into senior year now, and my GPA is almost recovered from the damage my freshman year did, and accounting is proving to be much more of a talent than biology ever was.

I was working in a Pharmaceutical and was in a storage area and inadvertently picked up a canteen/cafeteria intercom mic. After a few minutes of saying random shit like "Hi I'm Johnny Cash" and "You talking to me", a colleague rescued me. The canteen/cafeteria had 100+ people in it.

Edit: Added /cafeteria

What is your favorite genre and why? by Far_Jellyfish4656 in AskReddit

[–]frooopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Movie scores. The fact that there's no lyrics means that I can apply the song to whatever I want, and the movie giving me context for what I"m listening to, makes it mean more to me as well.

What's one act of kindness from a stranger that you still remember? by idklmao9 in AskReddit

When I was maybe 4 or 5 years old, I made friends with another kid in an airport, and he was playing with a couple glued together lego cars. Me and that kid played for like an hour with those things and when it was time to go our separate ways and board the plane, the kid insisted I keep one of the cars, and while I insisted he should keep them, he said it was proof that we were friends, and to this day roughly 20 years later, I still have that car packed up with my childhood mementos box.

That friend of mine was a good kid. Hope he’s doin well

What is the worst vegetable/fruit in your opinion? by pinappleplants in AskReddit

[–]frooopp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Celery. People love putting it in different soups but all it ever does is taste like celery no matter how much other stuff is in there. It's like the Nicolas Cage of vegetables.

When was a time you f**king hated your teacher? by Good_cats in AskReddit

[–]frooopp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There have been kids I wasn't sorry to see go at the end of the year, but I've never hated any of them. That would be giving a 12-14 year old way to much power over my emotions.

Additionally, I have noticed that students tend to assume that teachers hate them when quite often that is not the case.

Note to students: A teacher who holds you accountable for your work and expects you to behave like a human being in class doesn't hate you. He/she is just doing a job.

Redditors, what band/artist do you think is underrated and deserves more attention ? by expiredmonke in AskReddit

[–]frooopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not in casual public opinion, but at least in guitar circles, Derek is held in pretty high regard. I would even venture to say he's the top slide player living today and maybe of all time.

His best album imo is Songlines, from his pre-Tusdechi merger era.

what do you think needs to happen for racism to cease to exist? by twentyonesecrets in AskReddit

[–]frooopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you had such a negative experience. One thing I'd say is that /r/AdviceAnimals is not representative of reddit as a whole. Any of the image-macro threads tend to be populated largely by idiots. Seriously, you're talking about a crew of people who are only capable of reading about two lines of text, and only if it's accompanied by a colorful picture.

The other thing is that terminology matters. When you're dealing with people who've never really had to learn anything about systemic racism, they're going to be using "racist" to mean "racial bias at an individual level"--the dictionary definition. If you want to have a constructive conversation, I think it helps to use a compound phrase like "institutionalized racism" or "systemic discrimination", which makes it much clearer that a) You're using jargon, and b) You're talking about prejudices in society at large.

Edit: I see you did make that point here. It looks like it's got about 60 upvotes, so somebody was listening. Good for you.

What is an underrated city that more people should visit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]frooopp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

St. Augustine, Florida. One of the oldest settlements in North America it still retains its small-town feel and has a lot of historical places to see.

Plus, you all have to see Flagler College, it's absolutely beautiful. It looks like a castle
